Hi all,

When annotating a pdf file and saving the annotated file xournal makes the extention .pdf.pdf, which makes sense; however, when removing the second .pdf (overwriting the original pdf file) only the annotations made are "saved" and the contents of the original pdf-file is lost. It would be great if xournal either warns that when overwriting the original pdf file part of the contents is lost, or refuses to overwrite the original pdf file.

I believe this is bug #160, fixed in 2015 with both a patch to avoid data corruption and a stern warning to the user that it is still not a good idea to export on top of the file being annotated. Please update your version of xournal, for example to the bugfix release 0.4.8.2016.

Here's a link to the older bug report: https://sourceforge.net/p/xournal/bugs/160/
Closing this ticket, but please reopen if in fact you are using a newer version of xournal and this is a different issue.
