Thanks for the reply, Arno. I'll give that a shot. I have also now found that by compiling with alternate implementations of Date (and dependencies) taken from the cldc1.1.jar in the bootstrap classpath it works ok. Though I need to disable portions of URLConnection that rely on Date.parse() (which isn't implemented in the CLDC version).
