Sorry for the delay in responding to this ticket.

I've checked the above XMLTV IDs with the current release version of XMLTV, and they are all 'known' to the software.

What version on the software are you running?

Have these errors since resolved?

I have noticed that a few of your reported channels are (currently?) providing blank listings, so will investigate these further:

Bid
Euronews
Fitness TV
Gems TV
Price Drop
The Active Channel

I'm wondering if you might have several channel IDs specified in your two XMLTV configuration files that MythTV cannot match against valid channels.

Can you check that for each XMLTV ID specified in each of your two MythTV video source grabber configurations:

/home/mark/.mythtv/Vs-FreeSAT.xmltv

/home/mark/.mythtv/Vs-FreeView.xmltv

there is a configured channel on the relevant source in MythTV having that XMLTV ID associated with it?

For each of the failing channel identifiers, check if the channel is configured in MythTV and, if not, remove the entry from that video source's .xmltv config file.

Have gone through the list of fails,.. and as you suspected most are not listed in my mythtv listing,.. but strangely some are.
Will remove the none entries from the XX.xmltv files

freeview.aljazeera.net existed in both listed, removed from SAT
and found some others that were in the wrong Vs*.xmltv
although one funny:- parliament.bbc.co.uk - Skipping channel is in both lists as should be a valid xmltv reference.... so not sure about this one

I have also found examples such as "freeview.foodnetwork.com" which should be "foodnetwork.com",.. now accept this is the wrong reference,.. but I must have copied it from a data source somewhere. just probably out of date... the joys of the www. :-)

But one of the issues I see here is that myth s/w or is it XMLTV stuff,.. does not seem to report an appropriate error message to the fact/issue that an xmltv reference is not recorded in both places correctly.

I fully accept I did no cross reference the issue between the myth side and the Vs-*.xmltv files,.. but the error messages did not point me there,.. and I was cross referred from a mythtv forum member,... I will update the Mythtv forum.. so hopefully prevent some unnecessary escalations....

I do appreciate some of these errors are not trappable,.. and we are all just striving to improve the core product what ever that might be...

If you have some ideas on bbc parliament that would be great..

Thanks for looking into the issue on your system and confirming the issue lies outside of XMLTV. XMLTV (the data producer) is just providing MythTV (the data consumer) with whatever data it has asked for and has no knowledge of the channels configured within the MythTV database.

i) parliament.bbc.co.uk is a valid ID for the uk_rt grabber. As this channel is available on both Freeview and Freesat, please make the channel is correctly configured with the ID on your Freesat source which showed an error earlier in the thread. mythfilldatabase will complain if only one of them has the channel configured.

ii) The uk_rt grabber does (and other XMLTV grabbers should) report if channels configured in a grabber config file are no longer available to the grabber (or perhaps the XMLTV ID has changed over time).

It is good testing methodology when using a series of stacked applications (e.g. MythTV with XMLTV) to test each application/utility in turn to determine where the issue lies.

When debugging MythTV listings it is good practice to test the relevant grabber and its configuration file(s) in isolation to ensure that the grabber is returning the data the configuration file (and this in your case, MythTV) is asking for. If you are able to determine that configured channels are "live" in the grabber, you can then check the next app/utility in the chain (the MythTV channel config on each video source) to see if there is a configuration issue there.

MythTV is correcty informing you with the "Unknown xmltv channel identifier" warnings/error messages that there is a channel configuration issue, but it is unclear where the problem lies and also not the most straightforward task for a new user to determine where the issue may lie.
