Summary: Preferences seem to have changed when using escape to exit

Initial Comment:
- Open up the preferences dialog,
- Change a 'check' box in a features table 
- Use escape to exit the preferences, 
- Open up the preferences again,
- The 'check' box seems to have kept it's state,

This might make the user think he has saved the
preferences when using escape. (this is however not the
case)
