Well, our project has been accepted as a new project by sourceforge (obviously ;-).
First of all I would like some of you to become project admins so that I don't have to manage this project all by myself.
Second: I have started using cvs to manage our schema, for this I have imported a very basic xml schema with only the schema declaration.
Third: We have a website at sourceforge (http://xmlastro.sourceforge.net) which at this point is empty. I think we should definitely use this site for promotion of our project. Any one interested in designing our web site?

I made a mistake.
I started the mailing list because I assumed that messages posted to the forum would not automatically be forwarded to an email address.
If you click on 'Monitor Forum" all messages in the Forum will be forwarded to your email address.
I have removed the automatic forwarding of forum messages to the mailing list.

I dont't think it doesn't matter at this stage that it is only one page. As long as we have a nice front to the project pages at sourceforge. At least for now.
I have added you to the project.
As an introduction could you tell us a bit about yourself, your connection to astronomy and your experience with computers and such?

With astronomy I really do not have much in common. I mean nothing special just some basic skils. Since in my part of the world it is really expensive to have a telescope my obervation tools are limited to only binoculars. But we will see..... ;))
With computers I have better luck.
I have develpoed for a chemical trade company a XML DTD for representation of chemical data in PDS-specification documents.
Last year student in "Automatics and control".

Count me in! I have some limited XML experience, but I plan on writing some software for amateur astronomers (not right now, too busy with another project, but hopefully in a couple of months). Any sort of open formats for data exchange definitely interest me.
I'd rather not admin, again, it's a time based thing, but I will contribute whatever I can from an astronomy and XML background.

I have created a mailing list:
xmlastro-discussion@lists.sourceforge.net
You can subscribe at:
https://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=68457
I have configured this forum so that ALL messages will also be forwarded to this mailing list.
At this moment the list is not yet available, it can take one day for it to be activated!

I have set up some really very basic (only one page) web site template at:
http://raboten.netfirms.com
If you like it or have any comments please feel free.....
I would like to help with the site as well with the development.
My SF name is marstreme.
Regards.

Thanks for setting this up. I would be more than happy to serve as a project admin, if need be.
I'm going to start working to strengthen my Schema skills.
Best,
Glenn Becker
