Xlideit Image Viewer

Xlideit is a lightweight image viewer with basic image processing.
A thumbnail bar is shown at the bottom of the window with all the images in the folder. The name of the current image and the toolbar are shown at the top of the window. Use the toolbar to access basic commands like: image slideshow, adjust zoom, rotate, delete, crop or resize the image, sort the list or access the program settings. Move the mouse pointer near the left or right side of the window to show the arrows and select the next or previous image. Move the mouse over the buttons to see a short description or over the thumbnails to see more information.
By default, the viewer starts in full screen mode but it can be switched to windowed mode by pressing F11. Also, you can press Enter to hide or show the toolbars, Space to start the slideshow or Escape to exit the program. To use this program as the default viewer for any image file, right click on the file and use the Open with option in the context menu.

Use the main toolbar at the top of the window to access the basic commands. Click the Show sidebar button in the toolbar or press F8 to show the sidebar on the right side of the window. The sidebar has advanced commands to edit the image, open the image folder, show the image tags or properties, clone the image or convert it to another format. All these commands can also be accessed by clicking the arrow near the Show sidebar button or by using the context menu in the main window.
The image can be easily renamed by clicking the name on the toolbar or by pressing F2. You can use the standard buttons on the right side of the toolbar to Minimize, Close and switch to Window mode or return to Full screen mode. Click the Adjust zoom button to adjust the image so it fits the window. Also, click the arrow near this button to show a slider or use the mouse wheel to zoom the image in and out. When the image is zoomed, click on it and drag the mouse or click on the thumbnail to move the image. Right click on the toolbar or the sidebar to show the context menu. Use this menu to show or hide the toolbars, move the thumbnail bar or customize the buttons. Select Customize and then click on any button to activate or deactivate it or click and drag the button to move it inside the toolbar or between the toolbars. Finally, select Customize again to apply the changes to the toolbars.
Thumbnail bar

Use the thumbnail bar at the bottom of the window to select any of the images in the list. Also, move the mouse pointer to the left or right side of the window to show the arrows. Click these arrows or press Left or Right to move to the next or previous image. If the thumbnails do not fit the thumbnail bar, click on the page arrows at both sides or press Page up or Page down to move to the previous or next page. Click and drag the slide bar to scroll through the entire list. Move the mouse over the thumbnails to show information about the image. Click the Properties button in the sidebar or press Ctrl+Enter to show the image properties dialog. Also, click the Show tags button or press F7 to show the image tags and see more information about the image like the camera or the software used, the original date and time or the GPS coordinates. In this panel, click the Apply button or press Enter to save the changes to the image file. By default, the thumbnail bar is located at the bottom of the window. Press Ctrl+End or select Left, Right or Top in the Thumbnails option of the program settings or in the toolbar context menu to move the thumbnail bar to the left, right or top of the window. This is recommended when using a widescreen display. Also, select Full list to maximize the thumbnail bar to the full window size. In this mode, you can press Enter or click a thumbnail to show the image at full size and then click the image to show the thumbnail bar again. Click and drag the handle icon near the border of the thumbnail bar to resize it and show multiple rows.
Click the Image list button on the left side of the toolbar to access the list menu. Select Save in this menu or press Ctrl+S to save the current list to an INI file. You can also use this menu to load or delete any previously saved list or clear the current list. Select Refresh or press Ctrl+R to refresh the list with all the images in the current folder. You can add or remove favorite folders by using the Add favorite and Delete favorite options. The favorite folders and all the lists stored in the current folder will be shown at the top of the menu so they can be easily selected. In this menu, click Scan clipboard, Auto rotate, Media files, Show folders, Subfolders or Auto scan to configure the list without using the program settings. You can also sort the current list by clicking the Sort list button in the toolbar and selecting any option in the menu. The images can be arranged by Alt+clicking and dragging the thumbnails or by pressing Alt+Left, Right, Page up, Page down, Home or End. Also, click the Select images button in the sidebar or press Insert to activate the multi-select mode. In this mode, click the thumbnails to select them and drag them with the mouse to arrange the images.
Slideshow mode
Click the Slideshow button in the toolbar or press Space to start the image slideshow. The main window will change to full screen mode and the images will be shown starting from the current image. Press Space again to pause or resume the slideshow or Escape to stop and return to viewer mode. At any time, you can press Left or Right or click a thumbnail to change the current image. This will pause the slideshow automatically and it must be resumed manually. By default, the images will be shown in loop mode using an interval of 5 seconds and a fade transition effect. Press Num+ or Num- to change the slideshow speed. All these parameters can also be adjusted in the program settings.
Basic image processing
The image can be rotated to the left or right by clicking the Rotate left or Rotate right buttons in the toolbar. It can also be turned upside down or flipped horizontally or vertically with the Turn upside down, Flip horizontal and Flip vertical buttons in the sidebar. To convert the image to another format, click any of the Convert to buttons. Click the Edit image button in the sidebar or press Ctrl+E to edit the image in the default editor. Click the Print image button or press Ctrl+P to print the image. To set the image as the desktop wallpaper, select Set wallpaper in the viewer context menu. When an image is modified, the original file is renamed so it can be restored later. Click the Restore image button or press Ctrl+Z to revert the changes. Also, you can click the Clone image button or press Ctrl+N to clone the current image so it can be modified while keeping the original image.
Crop, resize and rotate
Click the Crop and resize button in the toolbar or press F9 to open the basic processing panel. With this panel you can crop, resize or rotate the image to any degree, add a border or text or draw on the image. Also, the color and light of the image can be adjusted or it can be flipped or converted to another format. The options in this panel are arranged in tabs. Click the buttons at the top to access all the tabs. The crop and resize parameters can be entered in pixels or percent ratio. The crop rectangle can also be adjusted with the mouse by moving or resizing the red box in the viewer or it can be defined by clicking on any point in the image and dragging a box. You can also define the area to apply the red-eye reduction effect by clicking the image and dragging a box when this effect is active. To reset the area to the full image just click the image. Activate the grid to snap all the pixel positions to a specific grid. The default value of 16 pixels is recommended to avoid quality loss when processing JPEG images. Click the arrow buttons near the text boxes to select some predefined values or click and drag the button to easily change the parameter. Click the check boxes on the left to activate or deactivate any parameter. Also, move the mouse over any text box or check box to see a short description of the parameter.
Click the Text and drawing button at the top of the panel to access some basic drawing tools. Use these tools to draw lines or shapes on the image or copy, paste or rotate parts of the image. Press Ctrl+F6 or click the Show histogram button to show the image histogram and see the color distribution of the image. You can use the context menu in this panel to configure the graphs. Activate the Preview check box to preview the changes or click the check button on the right to apply the changes without saving the image to a file. Click the Apply button to save the changes to the image file or the Reset button to restore the default parameters. You can use the Convert to option to convert the image to another format. Note that the transparency of the image will be lost when processing the image with this panel.
Video, audio and document files
This viewer supports the playback of video and audio files. By default, when a video or audio file is selected, the playback will start automatically. Press Space or click the video to pause or resume the playback. You can use the Auto play option in the context menu of the main window to disable the automatic playback. Also, select Player controls in this menu or press Num/ to show or hide the buttons and the tracker of the video player. When playing video files, press F11 or double click on the video to switch to full screen mode. Press Escape to return to normal mode. If an audio file has an embedded thumbnail, it can be viewed and processed like any image file. Note that only the files that are supported by the Windows Media Player can be played. This viewer can also show PDF and RTF documents or HTML web files but PDF files can only be displayed if the Adobe Reader is installed. To enable or disable the support for video, audio or document files, use the Show multimedia files option in the program settings.
Add or remove images
Click the Add images button in the sidebar or press Ctrl+L to open a file dialog and add images to the list. If only one image is selected, the current list will be replaced with all the images in the folder. Also, drag and drop images from any folder to the main window to add the images to the list. You can also copy the images to the clipboard and then click the Paste images button or press Alt+V to add the images to the list. The selected images can be removed from the list by clicking the Remove image button or by pressing Ctrl+Del. Click the Clear list button or press Alt+Del to remove all the images from the list.
Copy or move images
Images can be copied or moved from one folder to another using this viewer. Click the Show folders button in the sidebar or press F6 to show the folder view on the left side of the window. With this panel you can navigate the folders by clicking on them. Select one or more images in the thumbnail bar and press Ctrl+C or Ctrl+X to copy or cut the selected images to the clipboard. Then, use the folder view to move to another folder and press Ctrl+V to copy or move the images to that folder. Also, you can drag and drop images to or from another program. Ctrl+click the image in the main window and drag it to another program or press Ctrl or Shift while dropping images to the main window to copy or move the images to the current folder. The image itself, instead of the file, can be copied to the clipboard by pressing Alt+C. If the clipboard contains an image bitmap, press Ctrl+V to save the image to a new file in the current folder. Also, a snapshot of the screen or the active window can be saved directly to a file in the current folder by pressing Ctrl+PrtScr or Ctrl+Alt+PrtScr at any time.
At the top of the folder view are defined some special folders like Pictures or Documents for faster access. Right-click on any folder in the view and select Add favorite or Delete favorite or use the Favorites sub-menu to add or remove folders from the favorites list. Also, use Move up or Move down in this sub-menu to move a favorite up or down in the list or use Reset all or Clear all to clear or reset the list to the defaults.
Find images
If the list has many images, it can be difficult to find a specific image. Pressing the A-Z or 0-9 keys will select the images that start with the specified characters. Also, you can click the Find images button in the sidebar or press Ctrl+F to show the find images panel and define a search string. The first image that contains the string in its name will be selected. Press Enter or click the Apply button to activate the filter. All the images that match the specified search string will be automatically selected. Now you can click the arrows at both sides of the window or press Left or Right to navigate through the selected images. When the image is found, click the Find images button or press Ctrl+F again to deactivate the filter and deselect the images.
This panel can also be used to find duplicate images in the current list or remove images that match or do not match the search string. Also, you can find images in the computer by searching the current folder and all its subfolders or the user or favorite folders. Click the arrow button on the top of the panel to change the search mode. Note that, when searching duplicate images in the list, it will be sorted by file date or time or by image light or color to help finding the images. By default, this panel will search images that contain the search string in their file name. To change the element of the image used for the search or the type of comparison, press the arrow button on the right to show the advanced search options. This is the list of all available options:

Search element: Use this option to select the element of the image that will be used to search the specified string like the name, date, size or full path of the file or the date, width, height, size or aspect ratio of the image. Also, you can search the image tags by using the All tags option or the Image tags and Camera tags sub-menus. When using numeric parameters like size, width, height or aspect ratio, add a K or M to the number to specify thousands or millions.

Type of comparison: Select the type of comparison to search images that contain, start or end with the search string or are equal, greater or less than the specified parameter. Also, select In range to search images between two specific values or activate the Invert option to invert the comparison and search for images that do not match the search string.

Find duplicates by: Select the element of the image that will be used to find duplicate images in the list. The list will be sorted either by file date or size which is a fast method or by image light or color which is slower because all the images must be scanned first. Deactivate the Exact color option to find images that have been slightly modified or recompressed or deactivate the Exact size option to find images that have been resized or rotated.

Case sensitive search: Select this option to differentiate between lower and upper case characters when searching images.

Search while typing: Activate this option to automatically start searching images while typing in the search text box.

Show selected only: Activate this option to hide the images that do not match the search string.

Add to the list: By default, when searching images in the current list or the computer, the current selection will be replaced or a new list will be created with the images found. Activate this option to add the images to the current list or selection.

Scan subfolders: Use this option to search images in the selected folder and all the subfolders when searching images in the computer.
Multi-select
By default, all the commands will be applied only to the current image. To apply a command to more than one image, activate the multi-select mode by clicking the Select images button in the sidebar or by pressing Insert. Double click the button to select all the images in the list or click it again to deactivate the mode. In this mode, you can select or deselect images by clicking on them in the thumbnail bar or by pressing Space. Also, you can Ctrl+click or Shift+click on the images or press Shift+Left, Right, Page Up, Page Down, Home or End to select many of them at a time. To arrange the images in the list, press the Alt key while moving the cursor or click and drag them to the desired position. Press Ctrl+A to select all the images or Ctrl+I to invert the current selection.
A second view of the image can be displayed with the zoom window. Click the Show zoom button in the sidebar or press Alt+Z to show this window. In the window caption you can see detailed information about the pixel under the mouse pointer. You can press Ctrl+Alt+C to copy this information to the clipboard. Use the mouse wheel to adjust the zoom or right click on the window to show the context menu and configure the view. This is the list of all available options:
- Hide cursor: Do not show the cursor on the view.
- Point cursor: Show the cursor on the center of the view as a single pixel.
- Square cursor: Show the cursor on the center of the view as a small square.
- Cross cursor: Show the cursor on the center of the view as two crossed lines.
- Smooth: Use pixel interpolation to smooth the edges of the pixels.
- Pixel info: Show or hide the information about the pixel under the mouse pointer on the window caption.
- View screen: Activate this option to follow the mouse around the entire screen. Deactivate it to limit the mouse to the current image only.
- Follow mouse: Activate this option to follow the mouse or deactivate it to center the view on the image.
- Pixel format: Use this menu to define the format of the pixel information shown on the window caption.
- Zoom level: Use these options to adjust the level of zoom of the view.
- Image list: Show a drop down menu to manage image lists and favorite folders. Use this menu to save, clear or refresh the current list. Also, you can load or delete previously saved lists or you can add or remove favorite folders. In this menu, you can also access some options to easily configure the list without using the program settings.
- Parent folder (Backspace): Navigate to the parent folder of the current folder.
- Pause slideshow: Pause or resume the image slideshow. This button is only visible when the slideshow mode is active.
- Slideshow (Space): Start or stop the image slideshow. In this mode, the viewer will switch to full screen and all the images will be shown starting from the current image.
- Adjust zoom (Num*): Toggle zoom adjust mode. Activate this mode to show the image using its real size without zoom. Deactivate the mode to automatically resize the image to fit the window. This mode will be activated when the image is zoomed in or out, either using the mouse wheel or the zoom slider. Click the arrow button on the left to show the zoom slider.
- Zoom in (Num+): Zoom in the image.
- Zoom out (Num-): Zoom out the image.
- Rotate left (Ctrl+Alt+Left): Rotate the image 90 degrees to the left.
- Rotate right (Ctrl+Alt+Right): Rotate the image 90 degrees to the right.
- Set wallpaper (Ctrl+Alt+W): Set the image as the desktop wallpaper.
- Cut image (Ctrl+X): Cut the image to the clipboard so it can be moved to another folder. Press Ctrl while clicking the button to cut the current folder instead of the image file.
- Copy image (Ctrl+C): Copy the image to the clipboard so it can be copied to another folder. Press Ctrl while clicking the button to copy the current folder instead of the image file. Also, press Alt to copy the image bitmap or Ctrl+Alt to copy the image information.
- Paste image (Ctrl+V): Copy or move the image stored in the clipboard to the current folder. If the clipboard contains an image bitmap, it will be saved as a new image in the current folder. Press Ctrl while clicking the button to add the images to the list instead of copying or moving the image files.
- Delete image (Delete): Delete the image. Press Ctrl while clicking the button to delete the current folder instead of the image file. Also, press Shift to permanently delete the file instead of sending it to the recycle bin.
- Crop and resize (F9): Show or hide the basic processing panel. Use this panel to apply some effects to the image like crop, resize or rotate or convert it to another format.
- Show sidebar (F8): Show or hide the sidebar. Use the sidebar to access some advanced commands like edit or print the image or show the image tags or the folder view. Click the arrow button on the left to access the tools menu and execute a command tool from the sidebar. Activate the Remember last option in this menu to change this button to the last selected tool so it can be used without showing the sidebar.
- Sort list: Show the sort menu. Use this menu to sort the image list using some properties from the image file like name, date, size, type or folder or from the image itself like date, size, width, height, aspect ratio, pixel format, light or color. Activate the Numeric sort option to properly sort images that contain numbers in their names.
- Hide toolbars (Enter): Show or hide all the toolbars and panels to view only the image. When the toolbars are hidden, move the mouse near the edges of the window to show them.
- Full image (Alt+Enter): Switch to full screen mode and hide all the toolbars and panels to view only the image. When the toolbars are hidden, move the mouse near the edges of the window to show them.
- Show settings (F10): Show or hide the program settings. You can use this panel to configure the viewer.
- Minimize: Minimize the viewer to the taskbar. This button is only visible when the viewer is in full screen mode.
- Window mode (F11): Switch to window mode. If you are using more than one display, click the button in full screen mode to resize the viewer to the full desktop size. This button is only visible when the viewer is in full screen mode.
- Full screen mode (F11): Switch to full screen mode. This button is only visible when the viewer is in window mode.
- Exit program (Escape): Close the viewer. This button is only visible when the viewer is in full screen mode.
- Edit image (Ctrl+E): Edit the image with the default editor. Click the arrow button below to show a drop down menu and add custom editors for the image. Click Add editor to open a file dialog and select the application that will be used as a custom editor. Click Delete editor to remove the last selected editor from the list. These editors can be also configured using the Editors option in the program settings. Activate the Remember last option to change this button to the last selected editor so it can be used without showing the menu.
- Print image (Ctrl+P): Print the image using the default image printing application.
- Scan image (Alt+E): Scan an image from the default scanning device and save it as a new image in the current folder. Press Ctrl while clicking the button to scan a preview of the image using the lowest resolution instead of the default resolution or press Shift to use the highest resolution available. Also, press Alt to open the Windows scanner and camera wizard.
- Open image (Ctrl+O): Open the image with the default viewer. You can use the Editors option in the program settings to open the image with another program instead of the default viewer when clicking this button.
- Open with (Alt+O): Show the Open with dialog to select an application from the list or change the default viewer for the image.
- Open folder (Ctrl+D): Open the folder where the image is located. Press Ctrl while clicking the button to navigate to that folder.
- Show sidebar (F8): Show or hide the sidebar. Use the sidebar to access some advanced commands.
- Show zoom (Alt+Z): Show or hide the zoom window. Use this window to display a second view of the image and see information about the pixel under the mouse pointer.
- Show folders (F6): Show or hide the folder view. With this panel you can navigate the folders in the computer by clicking on them.
- Show tags (F7): Show or hide the image tags. Use this panel to show the tags stored in the image and see more information like the camera or the software used.
- Add images (Ctrl+L): Add images to the list. Click this button to open a file dialog and add images to the list. Press Ctrl while clicking the button to add a folder.
- Paste images (Alt+V): Add images stored in the clipboard to the list.
- Filter images (Ctrl+F): Enter a search string to activate an image filter and find images in the current list. When the image filter is active, click this button again to deactivate it. Press Ctrl while clicking the button to find duplicate images or press Shift to apply the last filter.
- Select images (Insert): Toggle multi-select mode. Use this mode to select multiple images and apply effects to all of them. Click the button to activate the multi-select mode, double click it to select all the images in the list or click it again to deactivate the mode. Press Ctrl while clicking the button to invert the current selection.
- Remove image (Ctrl+Delete): Remove the image from the list. In multi-select mode, press Ctrl while clicking the button to remove the images that are not selected.
- Clear list (Alt+Delete): Clear the image list.
- Clone image (Ctrl+N): Duplicate the image so it can be modified while keeping the original image.
- Restore image (Ctrl+Z): Restore the original image after it has been modified. This command will only work if the Keep original file option is activated in the program settings.
- Remove tags (Ctrl+T): Remove tags from the image. Use this button to remove any personal information stored in the image before sharing or uploading it to any web site.
- Properties (Ctrl+Enter): Show the image properties dialog. Press Ctrl while clicking the button to show the properties of the current folder.
- Turn upside down (Ctrl+Alt+Z): Rotate the image 180 degrees.
- Flip horizontal (Ctrl+Alt+X): Flip the image horizontally.
- Flip vertical (Ctrl+Alt+Y): Flip the image vertically.
- Convert to JPG (Ctrl+Alt+J): Convert the image to JPEG file format.
- Convert to PNG (Ctrl+Alt+P): Convert the image to PNG file format.
- Convert to BMP (Ctrl+Alt+B): Convert the image to BMP file format.
- Convert to TIF (Ctrl+Alt+T): Convert the image to TIFF file format.
- Convert to GIF (Ctrl+Alt+G): Convert the image to GIF file format.
- Convert to TGA (Ctrl+Alt+A): Convert the image to TGA file format.
Image processing options
Click the Crop and resize button in the toolbar or press F9 to open the basic processing panel and apply some effects to the image or use the drawing tools. The options in this panel are arranged in tabs. Click the buttons at the top of the panel to access all the tabs or show the image histogram. This is the list of all available tabs and options:
Crop and resize
- Crop: Use these parameters to define the position and size of the crop rectangle. The parameters can be entered either in pixels or percent ratio. Click the arrow buttons to show a list of predefined sizes or click and drag the buttons to easily move a parameter up or down. The crop rectangle can also be adjusted by moving or resizing the red box in the viewer or by Alt+clicking on the image and dragging a box. Note that this box is only visible when the Preview option is not checked. Use the Aspect ratio option to define a fixed aspect ratio for the crop rectangle. Click the button on the right of the Crop check box to reset the parameters to the defaults.
- Resize: Use these parameters to resize the image or add a border. The parameters can be entered either in pixels or percent ratio. Click the arrow buttons to show a list of predefined sizes or click and drag the buttons to easily move a parameter up or down. Use the Aspect ratio option to define a different aspect ratio for the resize rectangle. You can generate thumbnails from several images by using the Adjust option. Select Fill or Fit and then define the size and border of the thumbnails in the Width, Height and Border parameters. Select the color of the border by clicking the color box in the Border parameter. Also, you can expand or reduce the size of the canvas without resizing the image. Enter the new size in the Width and Height parameters and then select the location of the image by using any option like Center, Left or Top in the Adjust parameter. Click the button on the right of the Resize check box to reset the parameters to the defaults.
- Rotate: Use this parameter to rotate the image. Click the arrow button to show a list of predefined values or click and drag the button to easily move the parameter up or down. Positive values will rotate the image in clockwise direction and negative values in counterclockwise direction. The size of the canvas will be automatically adjusted to fit the image. The color of the area added is defined in the Transparent color option of the program settings.
- Flip: Use this parameter to flip the image horizontally or vertically.
- Convert to: Use this option to convert the image to a specific file format. The quality of the compression used when converting the image to JPEG format is defined in the program settings.
- Preview: Activate this option to show a preview of the image with the changes applied. Click the check button on the right to apply the changes without saving the image to a file or click the arrow button to undo the last action.
Light and color
- Light & color: Use these parameters to adjust the light and color of the image. Click the arrow buttons to show a list of predefined values or click and drag the buttons to easily move a parameter up or down. Click the button on the right to reset the parameters to the defaults. You can define the area to apply all the effects by clicking the image and dragging a box. To reset the area to the full image just click the image.
- Color: Use this option to configure the Brightness, Contrast and Gamma parameters for a specific color channel.
- Brightness: Use this parameter to adjust the brightness of the image. Enter values over 100% to add light to the image or under 100% to make it darker. A value of 0% will make the image completely black and 200% will make it white. Adjust this parameter when the black areas of the image are not completely black.
- Contrast: Use this parameter to adjust the contrast between the dark and bright areas of the image. Enter values over 100% to make the image brighter or under 100% to make it darker. A value of 0% will make the image completely black and negative values will invert the image. Adjust this parameter when the image is too dark or if you want to invert the image.
- Saturation: Use this parameter to adjust the color saturation of the image. Enter values over 100% to add color to the image or under 100% to remove color. You can use a value of 0% to convert the image to grayscale or negative values to invert the image colors. Adjust this parameter when the colors are not bright enough or if you want to convert the image to grayscale.
- Hue: Use this parameter to adjust the color shifting of the image. Enter values from -180° to 180° to change the color offset of the red, green and blue components of the image. A value of 180° will invert the colors.
- Gamma: Use this parameter to enhance the dark areas of the image. This parameter will adjust the light of the image without changing the black and the white points so no image information is lost. Adjust this parameter when the dark areas of the image are too dark or too bright.
- Sharpen & blur: Use this parameter to sharpen or blur the image. Click the arrow on the left and select Sharpen to sharpen the image and enhance the edges. Select Blur to blur the image and remove the noise. Use the second group of options in the drop down menu to define the direction in which the blur effect will be applied. Select Horizontal, Vertical or Diagonal to apply a motion blur effect to the image.
- Invert: Use this parameter to invert the colors of the image. Select Light to invert only the light of the image without modifying the color.
- Color tint: Activate this option to tint the image with a specific color. Click the color box on the right to select the tint color. Also, click the icon on the right to show a panel with a color palette so you can easily adjust the light and color of the image.
- Grayscale: Activate this option to remove all the color information from the image and convert it to grayscale.
- Effects: Click this option to show a drop down menu and apply effects to the image using a specific preset. You can also save the current preset or delete the last selected preset. Click the button on the right to reset all the effects to the defaults.
- Equalize: Use this parameter to automatically adjust the light and color of the image. Click the arrow button to show a list of predefined presets. Select the Color preset to adjust the light and color of the image and the Light preset to adjust only the light. These two presets will also adjust the gamma parameter so the image has the same number of pixels in the dark and light areas. Also, use Linear to adjust the light and color of the image and Soft to adjust only the light but without adjusting the gamma parameter.
- Posterize: Use this parameter to reduce the palette of the image to a limited set of colors. Select Light to apply the reduction only to the light of the image while keeping the color information. Activate the Smooth option to reduce the edges of the colored areas. Enter low values to apply a hand drawing effect to the image.
- Pixelate: Use this parameter to increase the size of the pixels in the image. This effect is useful to hide sensitive information that may appear in some areas of the image. Activate the Smooth option to remove the edges of the pixels.
- Red-eye: Use this parameter to remove the red-eye effect caused by the camera flash.
- Fade: Use this parameter to adjust the strength of all the light and color effects. A value of 0% will disable the effects while 100% will apply the effects with the full strength.
Text and drawing
- View: Click and drag the image to move the view or the selection.
- Pencil: Use this tool to draw on the image using a thin pen.
- Brush: Use this tool to draw on the image using a wide pen.
- Erase: Use this tool to erase areas of the image using the background color.
- Line: Click and drag the image to draw a straight line.
- Rectangle: Click and drag the image to draw a rectangle. Press Shift to draw a square. Deactivate the Transparent shapes button to fill the shape with the background color.
- Ellipse: Click and drag the image to draw a ellipse. Press Shift to draw a circle. Deactivate the Transparent shapes button to fill the shape with the background color.
- Fill: Click the image on any point to fill the area with the foreground color.
- Text: Use this tool to draw text on the image. Enter the text to add in the text box under the Add text option. By default, the text will be located at the center of the image but you can use the Align option or click and drag the text in the image to move it to the desired position. Also, click the button near the Add text option to change the font and size of the text. To draw the text to the image just click the text in the image.
- Cut: Cut the selected area to the clipboard. If no selection is defined, the entire image is used.
- Copy: Copy the selected area to the clipboard. If no selection is defined, the entire image is used.
- Paste: Paste the image in the clipboard as a floating selection.
- Select: Click and drag the image to define a rectangular selection or double click it to select the entire image. You can resize or move the selection box by clicking and dragging the borders or the center. Press Escape to clear the selection.
- Move and resize: Click and drag the image to define a rectangular selection or double click it to select the entire image. You can resize or move the selected area of the image by clicking and dragging the borders or the center. Press Ctrl while dragging to copy instead of moving the selection. Also, you can activate the Transparent selection button to use the background color as the transparent color in the selection. Press Enter or double click the selection to place it on the current position. Press Escape to clear the selection.
- Rotate: Click and drag the image to define a rectangular selection or double click it to select the entire image. You can rotate the selected area by clicking and dragging it. Click this button again to rotate the selected area by 90 degrees to the right. If no selection is defined, the entire image is used.
- Crop: Use this tool to crop the image to the rectangle of the selection box. You can define a selection box using the Select tool.
- Zoom: Use this tool to zoom in and out the image. Click on the image with the left button to zoom in or click it with the right button to zoom out. Also, click and drag the image with the left button when it is not zoomed to define the zoom area. Click and drag the image with the left button to move it when it is zoomed.
- Horizontal flip: Flip the selected area horizontally. If no selection is defined, the entire image is used.
- Vertical flip: Flip the selected area vertically. If no selection is defined, the entire image is used.
- New image: Click this button to open the New image panel and create a new image. In this panel, you can enter the name of the image, the file format, the size in pixels or the background color. Press OK to create the image.
- Pick color: Click the image with the left button to use the color on that point as the foreground color. Right click the image to pick the background color. Also, you can double click the image to replace all the pixels that match the foreground color with the background color.
- Undo: Undo the last modification made to the image. If a selection is defined, it will be cleared first. You can define the size and steps of the undo history in the program settings.
- Redo: Redo the next modification made to the image.
- Drawing options: Click this button to show a popup with some drawing options.
- Normal, Outlined or Filled shape: Configure the style used when drawing shapes like circles or rectangles. Select Normal to draw a simple shape using the foreground color. Select Outlined to draw a shape outlined with the foreground color and filled with the background color. Select Filled to draw a solid shape using only the foreground color.
- Transparent selection: Activate this option to use the background color as the transparent color when a floating selection is defined.
- Zoom smooth: Use this option to enable or disable the zoom smooth when using the drawing tools.
- Line smooth: Activate this option to use pixel interpolation and transparency when drawing shapes like lines, circles or rectangles.
- Foreground and background colors: Click any of the two boxes on the left side to open a color dialog and choose the foreground or background color used by the drawing tools. Click the arrow to swap the colors.
- Color palette: Click a color of the palette on the right side with the left or right button to change the foreground or background color. You can double click the color to open a color dialog and change it.
- Pen palette: Click a line of the palette in the middle of the panel to change the width of the lines used by the drawing tools when they are selected. You can double click the line to show a drop down panel and adjust its size.
- Add text: Activate this option to add text to the image. You can enter the text to add in the text box below. Click the buttons on the right to show a dialog and choose the font used for the text or reset the parameters to the defaults. By default, the foreground color will be used for the color of the text and the background color for the color of the shadow. To deactivate the shadow effect, select Normal in the option below the text box or use the same color for the foreground and background colors. Also, you can select the Glass effect to add a semi transparent background to the text or the Border option to add a border. Use the color box near this option to change the color of the background. Finally, the size of the text can be automatically scaled to the size of the image by using the text box on the right. You can use the following special strings that will be replaced with specific image data: %name% = file name, %file% = file name and extension, %folder% = folder name, %dir% = full folder path, %path% = full file path, %date% = file date, %time% = file time, %taken% = date and time stored in tags, %size% = file size, %width% = image width, %height% = image height, %pixels% = size of the image in pixels, %index% = position in the list, %total% = total of images in the list.
- Align text: Use the first group of options to align the text with the borders of the image. Select None to keep the text in a fixed position. Use the second group to justify the text when using multiple lines. Select Auto to justify the text based on the align option selected. Also, you can click and drag the text on the image or press Ctrl+Shift+Cursors to move the text to the desired position.
- Grid: Use this parameter to snap all the pixel positions of the crop and resize parameters and the drawing tools to a specific grid. Click the arrow button to show a list of predefined values or click and drag the button to easily move the parameter up or down. The default value of 16 pixels is recommended to avoid quality loss when processing JPEG images.
- Show grid: Activate this option to show a pixel grid on the image if the snap to grid option is active or the image is zoomed. Click the color box on the right to define the color of the grid lines.
Image histogram
Click the Show histogram button at the top of the basic processing panel or press Ctrl+F6 to open the image histogram. The graphs in this panel show the distribution of the pixels in the dark and bright areas of the image for every color component. The horizontal axis shows the brightness where the black point is located on the left and the white point on the right. The vertical axis shows the number of pixels in the image for every level of brightness. Three vertical lines are drawn corresponding to a 0.3%, 50% and 99.7% of the total of the pixels in the image. Move the mouse over the graphs to show detailed information on the selected level or click and drag the mouse to select a range of levels. Right click on the window to show the context menu and configure the graphs. This is the list of all available options:
- Zoom: Use these commands to adjust the vertical scale of the graphs. Select the Zoom reset option to switch between the default and the 1:1 scale values. Also, use the mouse wheel to adjust the zoom or click the graphs with the center button to reset the zoom.
- Copy info: Copy the information about the current level to the clipboard.
- Adjust colors: Activate this option to adjust the vertical scale for every color separately. Deactivate it to adjust the scale for all the colors using only the gray component.
- Show colors: Activate this option to show the red, green and blue components. Deactivate it to show only the gray component. Also, you can double click the graphs to change this option.
Program settings
Click the Show settings button in the toolbar or press F10 to show the program settings and configure the viewer. Move the mouse over any check box or text box to see a short description. Click the buttons at the top of the panel or press Page up and Page down to access all the tabs. Use the Viewer, Mouse & Info and Image tabs to configure the main window and the toolbars or the List and Files tabs to configure the slideshow and the files that will be shown in the list. Also, use the Setup tab to configure the integration of the viewer with the desktop and other basic settings. This tab will also be shown automatically the first time that the program is started. This is the list of all available tabs and options:
Viewer tab
- Toolbar, Arrows and Thumbnails: Use these options to show or hide the toolbar, the arrows or the thumbnail bar. Select Auto to keep them hidden until the mouse is moved near them. Deactivate the Full screen option to prevent them from showing when moving the mouse near the border in full screen mode. Activate Auto center in the Toolbar option to center the name of the image in the toolbar. Also, activate Quick rename to easily rename the image by clicking its name or Zoom level to show the current zoom level on the toolbar. Deactivate Zoom image in the Arrows option to prevent the arrows from showing when the image is zoomed. Also, activate Easy click to easily press the arrows just by clicking anywhere near the border where the arrows are located. Select Top, Sides or Bottom in the text box near the Arrows option to move the arrows to the top, bottom or both sides of the window. Select Top, Bottom, Left or Right in the text box near the Thumbnails option to move the thumbnail bar to the top, bottom, left or right side of the window.
- Customize: Click this button to customize the buttons in the toolbar and the sidebar.
- Thumbnail size: Select the size in pixels of the thumbnails in the thumbnail bar. You can use the text box on the right to adjust the space between thumbnails.
- Labels: Show labels below the thumbnails in the thumbnail bar.
- Thumbnail rows: Define the number of rows or columns in the thumbnail bar. Select Simple to use just a single row for the thumbnail bar or Full list to maximize the thumbnail bar to the full window size.
- Cursor mode: Use this option to set the behavior of the cursor in the thumbnail bar when navigating the list. Select Fixed cursor to keep the cursor centered in the thumbnail bar or Free cursor to allow it to move around. Use the Quick select option to easily navigate the images just by moving the mouse over the thumbnails. If the Quick zoom option is activated, you can toggle the zoom by clicking the thumbnail of the current image or scroll the image by moving the mouse over the thumbnail when it is zoomed. Also, activate the Auto select option to move to an image when clicking the thumbnail with the right button or with the left button in multi-select mode.
- Background: Color and style of the main window background. By default, a predefined image is shown but the desktop image or a custom image can be used instead. Click on the color box to change the background color. This option will only be applied when the Solid color style is selected. Select the Aero glass style to use the Windows Aero effect on the main window. This option will only work if the Aero theme is activated in the desktop settings.
- Use transparency: Activate this option to use transparency in the main window background. Click on the color box to change the key color used in the transparency effect of the main window. Enter the level of transparency of this effect in the text box on the right, where 0% is transparent and 100% is opaque. Deactivate this effect or press F12 on slow computers to increase the performance.
- Slideshow transparency: Select the level of transparency for the main window background in slideshow mode, where 0% is transparent and 100% is opaque.
- Adjust zoom: This is the method used when adjusting the images so they fit the window in viewer mode. Select Magnify and reduce to adjust the image so it fits inside the window. The Reduce only method will also adjust the image to fit inside the window but without resizing the images smaller than the window. Finally, the Fill window method will adjust the image to fill the window so no empty zones are visible. The Fill and adjust method will also try to fill the window but leaving small empty zones if necessary.
- Slideshow adjust: This is the method used when adjusting the images so they fit the window in slideshow mode.
- Zoom smooth: Use pixel interpolation to smooth the pixel edges when resizing or zooming the image. Select Disabled to disable this effect on slow computers.
- Snap viewer: Activate this option to snap the main window to the desktop borders when it is moved.
- Stick panels: Activate this option to stick the panels to the left or right side of the main window when it is moved or resized.
- Dock panels: Activate this option to dock the tags, settings and image processing panels to the left side of the main window.
- Quick scroll: Activate this option to easily scroll the image by moving the mouse over it when it is zoomed.
- Free zoom: Activate this option to allow zooming out images bigger than the window.
- Reset zoom: Use this option to keep or reset the zoom level when changing the current image. Select Save zoom to remember the zoom level and scroll position of every image in the list. You can reset the zoom and scroll position of all the images with the Reset all option.
- Show taskbar: Keep the taskbar visible when the viewer is in full screen mode.
- Multi-screen: Use this option to allow or prevent expanding the main window to multiple displays when switching to full screen mode. This will also apply to the slideshow and screensaver modes.
- Fonts & size: Click this button to show a drop down menu and adjust the size of the viewer and the panels or change the text fonts used in the toolbar, thumbnail labels, folder view, image tags, text editor, tooltips and auxiliary panels. You can use the Window size sub-menu to adjust the size of the elements in the viewer and the panels. Select Auto to automatically adjust the size of the windows to the size of the fonts. You can adjust the width of the windows in the Aspect ratio sub-menu. Use the Icon size sub-menu to change the size of the icons in the toolbar, the sidebar and the panels. Also, click the buttons on the right or press Alt+Num+ or Alt+Num- at any time to increase or decrease the size of all the fonts and the windows. Select Reset all or press Alt+Num* to reset the size to the default settings.
Mouse & Info tab
- Show information: Select the information about the image that will be shown in the tooltips and the labels of the thumbnails or near the image name on the toolbar. Activate the Name option to show the name of the image file. Activate the Extra info option to show the following information about the image:
- List position: Show the position and number of images in the list.
- Folder: Show the folder where the image is located.
- File type: Show the extension of the image file.
- Image date: Show the original date and time from the tags if available.
- File date: Show the last modified date of the image file.
- File time: Show the last modified time of the image file.
- File size: Show the size of the image file in short format.
- File bytes: Show the size of the image file in bytes.
- Image size: Show the width and height of the image in pixels.
- Image pixels: Show the number of pixels in the image.
- Pixel format: Show the bits per pixel of the image.
- Selection: Show the size of the selected items in multi-select mode.
- Tooltips: Enter the time elapsed in seconds until the tooltips are shown when moving the mouse over the buttons or the text boxes. Select Off to disable the tooltips. Select Panels, Toolbars or Thumbnails to enable the tooltips in the auxiliary panels, the toolbar and the sidebar or the thumbnails. Activate the check box on the right to use a fade out effect on the tooltips when they hide.
- Hide cursor: Select this option to hide the mouse cursor when idle in slideshow mode or when the viewer is in full screen mode and the toolbars are hidden.
- Mouse wheel: Action performed when the mouse wheel is moved. Select Zoom image to use the mouse wheel to zoom the image in and out. Select Navigate list to change the current image with the mouse wheel. This is the recommended option for laptops that have a touchpad or portable devices with a touch screen. With the Auto zoom option, you can use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out the image when the mouse is over the image or to change the current image when the mouse is over the thumbnails. If the Adjust mode option is selected, the mouse wheel will zoom in and out when the Adjust zoom button in the toolbar is activated or it will change the current image when this button is deactivated. You can also press Ctrl while moving the mouse wheel to change its behavior. Also, use the Scroll step sub-menu to define the step when using the mouse wheel to scroll the thumbnail bar. You can adjust the step used when zooming in and out the image in the Zoom step sub-menu. Activate the Smooth option to use a smooth transition when zooming the image. Activate the Invert scroll or Invert zoom options to reverse the mouse wheel direction when scrolling the thumbnail bar or zooming in and out the image.
- Double click: Action performed when the image is double clicked. This option will only be used if the Left click option is set to None or Allow double click is activated.
- Left click: Action performed when clicking the image with the left button. When Zoom area is selected, you can click and drag a box around the area to zoom in or just click the image to zoom out. Activate Allow double click to allow using the Double click setting. Also, activate the Pause multimedia option to pause or resume a video by clicking on it.
- Click & drag: Action performed when clicking and dragging the image with the left button. Activate the Invert scroll option to reverse the direction in which the image is moved when it is zoomed.
- Right click: Action performed when clicking the image with the right button. Use the Paint click option to configure the right button for the drawing tools.
- Center click: Action performed when clicking the image with the center button.
- Use touch screen: Disable some mouse hover features when using a portable device with a touch screen like tooltips, toolbar auto show or quick zoom.
Hotkeys tab
- Show keyboard shortcuts: Show keyboard shortcuts on the tooltips and menus.
- Use global keys: When this option is activated, you can press Ctrl+PrtScr at any time to save a screen snapshot to a file in the current directory. This hotkey can be redefined by using the list box below. Activate the Play sound option to open a dialog box and select a sound file to play when taking a screen snapshot or saving a clipboard image.
- Arrow keys scroll: Activate this option to scroll the image with the arrow keys when it is zoomed. You can define the scroll step either in pixels or percent ratio. When using a percent ratio, select Image or Window to make the step relative to the image or the window. Activate the Invert scroll option to reverse the scroll direction.
- Search images while typing: Activate this option to search an image in the list by typing the starting characters of its name.
- Press Escape to exit: Activate this option to exit the program by pressing the Escape key.
- Hotkeys: This is the list of all the keyboard shortcuts in the viewer. To redefine a hotkey just click on it and then press the desired keys. You can disable or reset a hotkey by double clicking on it. Also, right click the hotkeys to show the context menu. Use this menu to disable or reset a hotkey or all of them.
Image tab
- Transparent color: Click on the first color box to select the color used in the transparent areas of the images that have an alpha channel. This color is also used as background color when rotating the image. To use a checkered pattern instead of a solid color, click on the second color box to define the secondary color and then select a grid option in the text box on the right or enter the size in pixels of the checks.
- Show border: Activate this option to show a border around the image. Click the color box to change the color of this border and the border around the thumbnails. Also, you can use the text box on the right to adjust the space between the image and the toolbars or the window borders. Activate the Full screen option in this text box to adjust the space also in full screen mode.
- Media player controls: Show or hide the buttons and the tracker of the multimedia player when playing video and audio files or animated images. Select Auto or Hover to keep the tracker hidden until the mouse is moved near it or over the video. Use the Time position, Volume slider or Track buttons options to show or hide the time stamp, the volume slider or the Next and Previous buttons. You can also adjust the time step used when pressing the Backward and Forward buttons.
- Animation speed: Default speed in frames per second of the animated images. This parameter applies only to images that have multiple frames or animated cursors, like GIF or ANI files.
- Play multimedia files: Start playing video and audio files automatically when they are selected. Activate the Loop option to play the files continuously in a loop.
- Scan source: Select the scanner or camera used when scanning images. Select Default device to acquire the image from the first device available or Windows manager to use the Windows scanner and camera wizard. Also, click on Select device to open a dialog with a list of all the available devices.
- Scan format: Use this option to adjust the color format of the scanned image. Select Auto to use the default format.
- Scan resolution: With this option you can adjust the resolution of the scanned image in dots per inch units. Also, select High quality to use the maximum resolution available or Preview to get a quick preview of the image.
- Save image as: Select the format of the file used when saving new images. Also, you can adjust the compression quality when saving files in JPEG format. Use values from 90% for a good image quality to 50% for a small file size. Values under 50% are not recommended.
- Undo history: You can define the maximum number of steps and memory used in the undo history of the drawing tools. Select Disable to disable the undo and redo commands.
- Editors: With this option you can configure the application that will be used when clicking the Open image or Edit image buttons in the sidebar. You can also add custom editors that will be shown in the drop down menu of the Edit image button. Use the arrow to select the editor to configure. Select Add editor or Delete editor to add or remove an editor from the list. You can move an editor up or down in the list with the Move up and Move down options. Select Reset all to reset the list to the defaults. Also, click the button on the right to open a file dialog and select the application. A command line with parameters can be defined where the %1 string will be replaced with the full path of the image file, %D with the folder of the image and %N with the file name only. If no application is defined, the default viewer or editor for the image will be used.
- Auto save clipboard images: Activate this option to automatically save the images copied to the clipboard in the current folder.
- Auto rotate images: Activate this option to rotate the images according to the orientation tag stored in the image metadata.
- Keep original file: Activate this option to rename the original file when an image is modified so it can be restored later. If this option is deactivated, the original file will be replaced by the modified image or it will be deleted when converting the image to another format.
- Copy tags: Use this option to keep the tags from the original file when saving a modified image. Select Update tags to also update the Date modified, Software, Width, Height and Orientation tags. Note that only the tags using the EXIF specification will be copied or updated.
List tab
- Slideshow mode: Select the loop mode for the image slideshow. The Normal and Repeat modes will navigate forward in the list while the Reverse mode will navigate backwards. Activate the Full screen, Multi-screen or Hide toolbars options to switch to full screen mode or hide the toolbars and panels when starting the slideshow. Activate Multi-select to cycle through the selected images in multi-select mode. Activate the Keep awake option to prevent the screensaver from starting or the display to power off while the slideshow is running. Select Auto start to automatically run the slideshow when the program is started.
- Slideshow delay: Time elapsed between two images in the image slideshow. Select Manual to start the slideshow paused and then press Space to advance to the next image.
- Screen saver: Activate this option to enable the screensaver mode when the main window is minimized. In this mode, the viewer will minimize to the system tray instead of the taskbar and the slideshow will start after the computer is idle for a specific time. You can click the tray icon to show the viewer again and stop the screensaver or click it with the right button to show a context menu. Use this menu to manually start the slideshow or to lock or power off the screen. Activate the Lock screen option to lock the screen when the screensaver stops. Select At startup to automatically activate the screensaver mode when the application is started.
- Slideshow effect: Transition effect used when changing the current image in slideshow mode. Select None to disable this effect on slow computers.
- Viewer effect: Transition effect used when changing the current image in viewer mode. Select None to disable this effect on slow computers. Activate the Arrows only option to apply the effect only when using the arrows to move to the next or previous image.
- Navigate folders: Activate this option to move to the next or previous folder when reaching the end or the beginning of the list. Also, activate the Loop option to wrap around the list.
- Image slide speed: Adjust the speed of the transition effect used when changing the current image.
- Toolbar slide speed: Adjust the speed of the slide or fade effect used for the thumbnail bar, the toolbars, the arrows and the media player controls when they hide. Select Disabled to disable this effect on slow computers.
- Thumbnail bar slide: When this option is activated, you can click and drag the thumbnails to scroll the thumbnail bar. Select Normal to disable this feature in multi-select mode so you can arrange the thumbnails in the list.
- Use mouse slide: When this option is activated, you can click and drag the image to the left or right to change the current image. Activate the Play sound option to open a dialog box and select a sound file to play when using the slide effect.
- Slide preview: Activate this option to show the next and previous images when using the slide effect. This feature will only work if the Preload images option is also activated.
- Window fade: If this option is activated, the main window will fade in and out in full screen mode when the program starts or exits or when the window is minimized or restored. Deactivate this option for slow computers.
- Folder view style: Use this option to define the style of the tree in the folder view. In Default or Simple styles, the subfolders will be expanded automatically when a folder is clicked. In Classic style, you must click the buttons to expand or collapse a folder. Also, the buttons will be shown in Default and Classic styles and hidden in Simple style. Activate the Drag & drop option to allow drag and drop folders in the folder view. Also, activate Quick rename to easily rename a folder by clicking on it or Auto select to select a folder when clicking on it with the right mouse button.
- Monitor file changes: Activate this option to detect file changes in the current folder and automatically update the images added, modified or removed by other programs. Select Add and show to automatically show the images added or Add and select to activate the multi-select mode and select them. Activate the Scan folders option to detect when a subfolder is created or deleted.
- Save list on exit: If this option is activated, the current list and image displayed will be saved in the same file as the program settings so it can be restored the next time the program is started. Activate the Zoom position option to remember the zoom level and scroll position.
- Auto scan images: Check this option to scan all the images in the list at the start and generate the image thumbnails. If this option is deactivated, only the images that are shown in the thumbnail bar will be scanned. Use the option on the right to scan images ahead from the current page. Also, you can press F5 to activate or deactivate this option at any time.
- Search user folders: Search in documents, images or videos of the current user at startup if the selected folder has no images.
- Scan subfolders: When this option is activated, the viewer will scan the folder of the selected image and all its subfolders. This is useful to search an image in multiple folders. Also, press Ctrl+F5 to activate or deactivate this option.
Files tab
- Show images: Use this option to select the type of images that will be shown in the thumbnail bar. You can enter the file extensions separated by spaces in the text box or click the check boxes below.
- Show multimedia files: Select the multimedia files that will be shown in the thumbnail bar. Deactivate this option to show images only.
- Show folders: Activate this option to show the subfolders of the current folder in the thumbnail bar, either at the start of the list or in a sorted position. Select Preview images to show the first image inside the folder. Activate Quick select to open the folder by double clicking on it. Select Show size to calculate the size of all the images contained in the folder and its subfolders or Full size to also include all non image files. These options are not recommended for slow computers.
- Save settings on exit: Activate this option to save the program settings to an INI file in the same folder as the program executable. Press Ctrl+Alt+S or click the button on the right to save the settings right away.
- Reset settings: Click this button to show a drop down menu. In this menu, select any Reset option to reset the program settings or restore the position and size of the main window and all the panels. Also, you can reset the toolbar and sidebar buttons, the keyboard shortcuts, the favorite folders, the custom editors, the zoom position or the drawing tools to the defaults. Click Restore last settings to reload the settings from the configuration file or Clear disk cache to delete the files of the image cache.
- Preset: Click this button to configure the program settings using a specific preset. Select the Desktop preset if you are using a computer with a mouse or a touchpad or select Tablet for a portable device with a touch screen. The Basic preset will disable all the viewer effects and the zoom smooth to improve the performance on slow computers. Also, select the Black preset to configure the viewer using the default background image with white text and buttons or select the White preset for a white background image with black text and buttons. You can click Save to save all the program settings to an INI file in the same folder as the program executable. These custom presets will be shown at the top of the menu for quick access. Use the Delete option to delete the current custom preset.
Setup tab
- Add a shortcut to the start menu: Add a shortcut to the program on the Windows start menu.
- Add a shortcut to the desktop: Add a shortcut to the program on the desktop.
- Add to the explorer context menu: Add a shortcut to the program on the explorer context menu.
- Preload images: Activate this option to preload images ahead from the current image and store them in memory so they can be loaded faster. You can also define the maximum size in bytes of the memory used to store these images. This option is not recommended for old computers with low system memory.
- Use image cache: Activate or deactivate the image cache. The disk cache is used for faster access to the images. By default, the cache data will be saved to the IDX and IDC files in the same folder as the program executable. Click the button on the right to change the folder. Disable this option if you are running this program from a slow disk, like an old USB pen drive.
- Check for updates at startup: Check if a newer version is available when the program starts. Click the button on the right to check for updates right away.
- Associate with image files: Select the image files that will be associated with this viewer. Note that to configure this program as the default viewer for an image file, you must also right click on the file in any folder and use the Open with option in the context menu. Select this program from the list and check the option to use it as the default application.

How to install
To install the program, just download the ZIP file and extract the content to any folder. Double click on the EXE file to run the program. The first time the program is started, a configuration dialog will be shown to add program shortcuts to the start menu or the desktop and to associate the program with the image files that are supported. Activate or deactivate the options you want to install or simply click the Skip button or press Escape to skip this process. The program will save the settings in an INI file on the same folder.
This program has been tested in Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 10 operating systems. It is programmed in Visual Basic 6 and the source files are included in a separated ZIP file with a source code tag.
