Hi,
Would it be possible to include another 'Maximum # of threads' entry just for CD ripping? I normally have # of threads set to the number of cores in my computer which makes file conversion faster but when I forget to change it and then try to rip a CD it beats the hell out of my optical drive with all of the seeking necessary. Does it really make sense to use multiple threads for ripping anyway?

Best regards

Well, when ripping CDs the setting is just ignored and XLD uses only 1 thread for reading.

OK, I did more testing. It only happens when I rip a 'homemade' CD. This screenshot was taken when I had Max # of threads set to 8 and I'm ripping a test CD with 28 tracks from a company that probably burned it themselves. If I insert a comercial CD XLD behaves as you say.

Well, do you mean a CD which has audio as a data file? Then it makes no sense to use XLD for "ripping". Just copy files with Finder.

This is a playable audio CD. The attached screenshot is from iTunes.

In any event, since XLD handles commercial CDs just fine I am happy. This CD is an outlier.

    Sorry for the alarm.

Does the disc appears in "Open Audio CD" list in XLD?

Yes, it does. And if I open it that way XLD works as it should.

The odd behaviour happens when I drag the 'Audio CD' desktop icon onto the XLD icon in the dock. So perhaps it is 'cockpit error.' This is my first try at ripping a CD with XLD. I normally use it for file conversion.

    Great app, by the way!

When you drag the CD icon onto XLD icon XLD recognizes tracks as a normal data file and does not invoke a correct ripping procedure. It is not a recommended way to rip a CD because it ignores all errors.

OK, sorry, my XLD did not come with a user manual or help guide that explains this.
