If a broken link exists and it is owned by someone else, you cannot chown it to yourself as with any other file via the properties dialog.Thus, you cannot delete it since it is not yours.
Actually this is the default behaviour for chown, unless -h or --no-dereference is specified.
Thus, the properties dialog is missing a checkbox (for symlinks) to specify the no.dereference
option.

This is default behavior for GNU core utils, so it is not reasonable to work against the current, specially since we are a front end to several core utils... Chmod is one of them, although the frontendeness is not as clear as with other apps.
