I'll attach an image on how xfe's homepage looks,
in linux, when using a dark gtk theme,
for your browser.

Probably, a background colour has not been set,
in the html...
or something like that
(it's a common problem).

I have tried several dark themes shipped with various Linux distributions and I can't reproduce the issue. Probably, the dark theme you used has a problem...
