#183 copy - paste doesn't replace a folder, but creates a subfolder

copy paste (1)
  • In the panel, choose a folder.
  • Do "Ctl+C" and then "Ctl+V"

A subfolder, with the same name, will be created, in the folder that was copied, eg...

Or, in two panel mode

  • Got to one panel
  • Choose a folder
  • Copy the folder
  • Move to the other panel
  • Paste the folder

If a folder, with the same name, already exists, it won't be replaced,
but a new one will be created, as a subfolder, eg...

Drag and drop, though, works fine.

This is fixed in Xfe 1.35.

I still have this issue in 1.37 but it's move that creates a subfolder.
I'm told that the files already exists and I say sure, go ahead and replace all. Xfe moves files, but into a subdirectory...
    Copy/paste works, move doesn't.

I confirm the above for version 1.37 .
Is the problem there in version 1.40, too?
Should a new ticket be created ?

I can't reproduce the bug. I've tried the following with Xfe 1.37:

    • in two panels mode, set the current directory to the same place, for example the /home/test directory. This place contains a directory 'test1' with some files in it.

    • in left panel, select the 'test1' directory, then do Edit / Cut, then go to the right panel and do Edit / Paste, then click on Accept in the dialog.

    • as a result, Xfe says there is an error, with the message "Destination /home/test is identical to source" and no file / directory is created or moved.

Note the message text is wrong (it should say "Destination /home/test/test1 is identical to source") but there is no file management error. The wrong error message was fixed in Xfe 1.40.

    Am I missing something?

Here's a short screencast showing the bug.

Create a folder "test1" and a few files in this "01", "02", etc.
    Create a folder "folder2"
    Copy "test1" into "folder2"
Drag "test1" from left pane to "folder2" in right pane (now containing a copy of "test1")
xfe asks if I want to overwrite the existing files. Answer Yes for all.
Now "test1" has not overwritten "test1" and it's files. It has placed itself as a subfolder to "test1"

Thanks, I can now reproduce the bug.

I finally checked that the bug was fixed in Xfe 1.40. So please, use this version.
