first: there is no preview of uploaded files. this mode only appeas on wiki text.

second: it is opening in IE because it is the system default browser. the application just launches the default browser of your system. why there was a session loose - i can't tell.

Can you provide more information regarding the file and the mediawiki, ... you are using?

What is pywikipedia doing with an external edit?
Pywikipedia is a tool for a mediawiki, isn't it? How is it getting involved in the external edit of a file?

    OK.

On what Wiki installation are you using pywikipediabot?
As i see - it is just a set of tools - not a wiki itself.

Can you explain the way to produce the error?

Yes. Pywikipedia framework consists set of tools/scripts and API to access Wiki pages, files, categories etc.

The way to produce the error is in normal scenario, just edit file using external application, then edit file, click Save. It opens up in browser with the Session was invalidated error. Seems the code fails with the latest MediaWiki?

    I cannnot get pywikipedia working.
The CAPTCHA Auth ist allways wrong.

And for the recod: you are using pywikipedia to start an external edit?

  • Nobody/Anonymous

No. I don't use Pywikipedia for external editor. I use Pywikipedia for other automated scripts. As I came to know from other developers seems that the issue with xExternal editor in new MediaWikii patch update.

    I fixed it.
The new MediaWiki has a new argument when uploading a file.
    Please use Version 0.8.8
