    Carl,
Excellant work looks very promising, I like the blocks system and I will explore the new template system and come back to you later.

Quick feed back untill the weekend:
*The Header and Footer menu entries are still available.
*The menu is still predefined and uses images is there a way to let people choose between the inbuilt menu and one that they can create themselves?
*Rant:The about box and media upload menus' etc are  appearing in seperate pages provide an option to display on another tab or inline.

On your website the documentation at http://xdbcms.sourceforge.net/installation.html
    under step 2 mentions:
"When you have run the install script, it would be wise to change the permissions on the INSTALL directory within Money to 400 by typing chmod 400 INSTALL. This should stop anyone else executing this script. "

I think the word "Money" needs to be changed :)

Once we have control over how the menu's work and look I will be ready to set up a test site.

    Thankyou
    -Gio

Sorry Carl, The following from above was meant to have "Can you please".  Too quick quick on the return.
      eg:
*Rant:The about box and media upload menus' etc are appearing in seperate pages. Can you please provide an option to display on another tab or inline."

      Hi John / Gio?

Thanks for the quick feedback! I had a sudden attack of compassion and didn't actually remove the header / footer pages - so you can still get at the settings and put them into the new blocks facility. Please note though, any data in headers / footers is ignored, and not put into the final web pages.

True, the menu is still largely pre-defined, and I'm intending this to be the focus of the next release (unless important bugs surface) - I'm intending to give the option of using the tree structure as well - but I'm thinking of the mechanism how to let users modify the menu layout hmmm.......

In the meantime, you have two options - by now I hope you like the re-vamped project homepage (apart from the glitch that means it doesn't display properly in IE! - which will be fixed tonight).

This appears to have a different menu background - I did this by editing the graphic used for the background, and setting it to transparent. All the rest is done through the page template - actually I didn't need to use blocks at all. Admittedly I had to use the 'view source' of the HTML of the page template a couple of times, but once I set ip the page template, everything else pretty well much generated normally.

Alternatively, you don't actually need to use the [[MENU]] directive at all within the page template. If you have a set number of pages, you could quite easily create the links within the page template (along with whatever graphics required) - only trouble is that it defeats the object of having a system to handle it....
      - but good to hear that you're nearing the position to release your first website!

Good one about the 'money' comment as you might have guessed, I lifted that piece of text from xdb-money - the other open source project I've worked on....

Spotted the *Rant - I'll look into this but I think there's a couple of things ahead of it within the queue - hopefully it's not making you tear your hair out too much!

      Yours
      Carl.

      Carl,
The home page re-vamp looks great.

For the current release I only noticed a cosmetic spelling issue that you may want to now about:
*On the "Security" & "Help" sections you have spelling of "xdbcms" as "xdb" for each of those menu choices

And a navigational/usability issue while using the xdbcms I find myself using the "Website Details" menu alot can they be moved from the drop down menu to maybe a section of there own on the side menu?

      Great work.

      -Gio
