Jarrod, thx for your answer. Actually, i think you partially right, and what i'm about to write doesn't make too much sense to me too.. :) I recheck myself and found that IMM on x3550M3 indeed work the way you described, however, i did the same test on dx360M3 and changing the IP required reset of the IMM (at least this is the message on the screen) to take effect. When i performed the installation (dx360M3) i waited MUCH more that 120 seconds, in fact, some of the machine left at this state for more than 1 hour. Maybe its a firmware issue (although i tried it with old firmware and new one). I will take a second look. thx a lot for your answer. However, it does take some significant amount of time to happen (if you wait 120 seconds, it should have completed by then). -----Gilad Berman <GI...@il...> wrote: ----- To: xCAT Users Mailing list <xca...@li...> From: Gilad Berman <GI...@il...> Date: 07/10/2011 09:51AM Subject: [xcat-user] bmcsetup not reseting IMM Hello, During a cluster installation i found out xCAT 2.6 (or just my installation..) do not reset the imm after running bmcsetup. To be more specific, bmcsetup works fine,it sets up all the values and IP, however, the machines stays at standby state (blue LED is on) but no ping to the IMMs until i reset the IMM. I'm using psh (psh A1 ipmitool mc reset cold) so its not too hard to overcome this issue, however, i don;t think this should work this way. Looking at the code, indeed, the bmcsetup script do not reset the IMM. machines are dx360M3, chain table is, as usual runcmd=bmcsetup, standby. As always, i might doing something wrong here, or missed something, sorry in advance for that :) Regards, Gilad Berman HPC Architect IBM System & Technology Group. Israel E-mail: gi...@il...
