Making a new table will be in the Developers Guide, which I am on the hook to write next year. Any new table that you want to add you should submit the details to this forum for review, to make sure it fits into the schema. Adding the table will be just as easy as adding it to Schema.pm in the xCAT perl library, but we do want to review the design and attributes before it is added to make sure it fits into the overall xCAT design. Make sure that your attributes are not any of the reserve words for the various databases we support. Read comments in Schema.pm. Lissa K. The problem is that the boot params get changed when booting the xCAT service kernel. So for now I'll probably have to write a plugin to use my new netbooting method. compute,,,,"runimage=http://192.168.15.1/install/flash/ls22.tgz ,mybootmeth", Question: Is it documented anywhere how to make a new table? On Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 8:55 AM, Vallard Benincosa <va...@gm...> wrote: Hi, I have a custom kernel boot image that was not created by xCAT. As such, in order for me to boot it, I do this: nodech <noderange> bootparams.kernel=<path to kernel> bootparams.kcmdline=<kernel params> chain.currstate=netboot But what I want is for this to happen automatically so that when a new node is placed in the cluster it will detect it, setup up the bmc, then flash the image, then install the node. So, I want to verify that I can do this: Do you see any problems if my chain table looks like the following: default,,,,,nodediscover,, compute,,,,"runcmd=bmcsetup, runimage= http://192.168.15.1/install/flash/ls22.tgz,netboot",nodediscover,, Thanks, let me know if there's something I'm missing. I will try this out and see how it goes. _______________________________________________ xcat-user mailing list xca...@li... http://www.xcat.org/mailman/listinfo/xcat-user -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
