Hi list, The main thing that we miss (as IBM BP) is the UUID feature from CSM, is there any way we can incorporate this into xCAT, we can easily get this info from the rinv command, so I don't think it should be that difficult. We probably need a new field in the mac table called uuid, and the dhcp can be configured with that instead of mac. The current way can be tiresome, especially when you don't have the full configuration of switches in-house, and only using temporary switches. Also there may be some switches that are used that may not have snmp available, to even try the automagic discovery. We tend to do all the BMCs at first, manually, so don't need the nbfs to do it for us, although I will still be using the nbfs to change the BIOS settings. Actually ASU should be a neat feature that should be added to nbfs, so that people have an easy way of changing BIOS settings, without having to go into the BIOS manually on all machines, especially when we can use "netboot <nodename> shell". (very useful to change console settings). I have created an image with the necessary libraries for this to work, if anyone wants that, I can provide it Also how long does it take for a patch to get into xCAT? I provided one for genimage for rh netboot for stateless RAM-root, unless you can add me to your SVN write access, I can add this myself, so that I don't have to keep patching my own copy? My sourceforge user id is arifali I have many post-installation scripts that I have been using in CSM (such as installing IB, gpfs, SGE), which I have mostly ported to xCAT, I can also provide these if required. Some of the original postinstall scripts in /install/postscripts don't check for SLES, and therefore scripts such as ntp and syslog don't work, I can easily patch these if required.
