Was working on a SLES9 build on for x3850's and after banging my head trying to update the drivers and modules.pcimap it turned out that the grub parameter acpi=off was the culprit. When autoyast would try to initialize the bcm5704 or e1000 for dhcp it would never recognize the card...even when the module was forced to insertion. Don't know if this has been discussed before with other equipment? Well, now we know.
