Category: SLES-specific Group: None >Status: Pending >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 4 Private: No Submitted By: Kerry Bosworth (kboswort) Assigned to: Lissa Valletta (lissav) Summary: Documentation updates for xCAT2top.pdf (for LINUX) Initial Comment: Section 2.2.17.3 [SLES] Setup Zypper repositories for xCAT and Dependencies (page 17) I suggest changing 'zypper sl' to 'zypper sl -d' which shows the URLs and will provide better verification of previous step. I suggest removing the "To update xCAT: zypper update --type package xCAT" from this section. If the user issues an 'update' now it will fail because xcat is not installed. The update instructions are taken care of later on in the document in step 2.2.22 Update xCAT Software after Installation on page 20. In System test we have to authenticate before we can connect to the on-line repositories (because of the firewall). Will other customers have to do this also? If so, should a step be listed before 2.2.19 Install xCAT and Dependencies on the Management Node which says issue 'telnet xcat.sf.net'. This is not listed anywhere. I heard of it word of mouth from a team mate. Otherwise they will get this message when they try to install. c862f1sq01:/ # zypper install xCAT Download (curl) error for 'http://xcat.sf.net/yum/xcat-core/repodata/repomd.xml.asc': Error code: Unrecognized error Error message: transfer closed with 31 bytes remaining to read Abort, retry, ignore? That should not be in the doc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Bruce (bp-sawyers) Date: 2009-09-25 17:00 Message: Lissa, Please handle the 1st two suggestions from Kerry. The last one (about the firewall) we should *not* document. This is an ibm specific thing, and although some customers may have a firewall/proxy/router they have to get thru, every situation is different, and they know their own situation better than we do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kerry Bosworth (kboswort) Date: 2009-09-25 15:32 Message: This is low priority, but wanted to log the bug before I forgot about it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=1006945&aid=2866677&group_id=208749 |
