The original Xbox Dashboard has an "auto-off" function which, when turned on, should power down the box off after six hours of inactivity. Whether that function works in Linux at all is unknown. It most likely should not work with Cromwell, but might work when booting Linux with a patched MS firmware or the 007 hack (that is, if the feature is based on setting some timer function in the microcontroller that controls the power, reset and dvd eject functions and not on the MS Xbox kernel alone.) However, if the feature works at all in Linux, it is not currently supported in any particular way and will probably just lead to the power being abrubtly cut off, without any warnings or clean shutdown sequences. See <http://xbox-linux.sourceforge.net/articles.php?aid=2002176120542> for some more information about the microcontroller and its (currently discovered and documented) functions. -- znark |
