You seem to have misunderstood a few things. Firstly reformatting an 
xbox hd is never a good idea. You can take larger pc drives and copy the 
xbox data to them to make an xbox drive that way.

Secondly there is no "linux mechassault disk". Of course if you had a 
modchip you could burn any disk you want to the dvdr and if the disk had 
an xbox version of linux on it then it would run.
