Hi all, I'm not sure what I've done here but linux won't boot anymore. What I've got: * Xbox v.1.4 * Softmodded thru Mechassault Hack * Linux: xebian v1.4 What happened: * Linux was working fine. * My hard disk ran out of space so I couldn't boot into the desktop, I just got a message saying it couldn't boot=20 * I ssh'ed onto the box and removed some media files I didn't need (the ones I added to cause the disk space problem) * Did a clean shutdown=20 * Rebooted=20 The problem: * When running the dashboard and xbox games it works fine. * When booting into linux it gets through the kernel initialisation fine, I see all the messages and everything is normal. * When it tries to change the screen (resolution?) to start booting the desktop it seems to try different modes until it bombs out back to the initialisation console. It then repeats trying to boot the desktop infinaltely. I ssh'ed in again and did a grep in /var/log to see if the message that was flicking up on screen was in it. I got the following message: =20 syslog.0:Sep 1 05:04:21 xebian kernel: agpgart: Unsupported NVIDIA chipset (device id: 02a5), you might want to try = agp_try_unsupported=3D1. I'm not great with Linux, but I'm sure I haven't changed any config on the box, or installed anything to affect this! I've got two questions... * can I fix it * If not, where do I try the "agp_try_unsupported=3D1" part? Thanks, Richard |
