I upgraded to (re-installed actually) xebian-1.0.3 recently and tried getting fceu-sdl and zsnes to to run. I used the debian packages fceu-sdl 0.97.5-3 and zsnes 1.337-4. They run fine actually, I got full screen mode working on both of them and games will load and run. My main problem is that both applications take 50% cpu while running and X takes the other 50%. Some games seem to be fine with this situation, others can't seem to keep up when there's a lot going on. That is, I get slow down and the audio messes up. Is there any way to reduce these applications load on the system? I assume one way would be to write a GLX enabled driver that would work on the xbox, but I don't think I'm up to the challenge ;) I had two other minor issues, one I couldn't get my xpad's to work in either program but that's no biggie, I have other USB pads that do work fine. The other minor issue was that sound didn't work for zsnes. I'm guessing it's trying to open the wrong pcm device and I can probably resolve that using strace to find the device zsnes wants to open and making a link. I'd appreciate any suggestions on any of the above problems. PS: I believe I completely search the archives for discussion on my main topic, but if I missed something point it out to me and my apologies for the extra mail. |
