I have no statistics on the overhead aside from the fact that it is extra overhead.
XRC.dll is an extra 120-500kb (upx?) if you're using App::Packer and the like.

Two completely separate issues.
The main purpose would be to reduce overhead.
I never plan to develop interfaces by hand anymore,
but when I do distribute programs,
I never plan to distribute .xrc files anymore.

I have not.
I would like to see it happen, but I don't know what it takes
(from what I could discern, it's way too much work for me to do on my own).
