Well, I've tried to play a little with the rgb() calls of style.css but I did not reach any good (i.e. nice) solution... also I think it's not very bad as it is now... you can do experiment yourself with website colours just saving the page from your browser and then modifying the style.css file and refreshing the page in the browser; let me know if you get some good results ;) >>> And i thinking of what would be a nice logo for wxLua. I added wxlualogo2.gif to the header; is it okay ? probably if you could rescale it to an height of 50px and replace those white pixels which are around the ring with transparent one, it would look even better ;) >> A problem I'm facing now is that I'd like to setup a synchronization >> script for SF news archive and wxLua website news box (something like >> the one in wxCode website) so that news can be easily added through >> the SF news tracker and they automatically appear also on wxLua >> website... >> >> however SF says that I have not enough permissions to access news >> tracker and to add a new 'news' entry (which I need for testing)... >> could anyone give me news-tracker permissions? > > Maybe i can, i don't know yet, will try :-) it worked; thanks. now news from SF to wxlua website are in synch. I also added the wxLua website maintainance scripts to my SF crontab. Now we mainly need to complete the pages of the site. They are all in CVS (module 'website') and if anyone has time to help writing them, that would be very appreciated... (only files ending with .php and not as .inc.php needs to be modified). A problem I'm facing now is that I'd like to setup a synchronization script for SF news archive and wxLua website news box (something like the one in wxCode website) so that news can be easily added through the SF news tracker and they automatically appear also on wxLua website... however SF says that I have not enough permissions to access news tracker and to add a new 'news' entry (which I need for testing)... could anyone give me news-tracker permissions? Thanks, Francesco |

Hi, in the end I think Sliqua as bad choice: it heavily uses tables and transform it to use CSS blocks is not easy. So I've changed to Gila template as you suggested in previous mails... however I feel the colours need some corrective touchs... if anyone has good idea please let me know - I've never been good in deciding colours ;) klaas.holwerda ha scritto: >> obviously everything can be changed. >> Just let me know which pages you think are missing > > Maybe: > > Mailinglist shouldn't be in support page? > Browse CVS this should go in download page, isn't it? > FAQ I replaced Authors page with Documentation page; I think FAQ and author list could go there... The things they suggest are ok. I would be wary of switching to less virtual functions and more events since I'm sure that it'd be MUCH slower even though they suggest that it'd be faster. The compiler should always find a virtual method faster than a user coded lookup table. -John Labenski |

Hi, there is a discussion going on wx-discuss (now available through GMane ;)) about wxWidgets 3 and also its language bindings. A nice page is in wxwiki: http://www.wxwidgets.org/wiki/index.php/WxWidgets3:Bindings Just in case someone more expert than me in wx bindings wants to add his opinion... Francesco |

Ok, so bakefile works now, below is the diff for a new cvs update after running bakefile_gen in wxLua/build/bakefiles. Is it right? The reason why I want to regenerate the bakefiles is that I want to remove the files modules/wxlua/include/wxlintrp.h and modules/wxlua/src/wxlintrp.cpp. Maybe it would be easier if you could just remove those two files and regenerate the bakefiles? Sorry! I forgot to say that pkgconfig module must be installed manually (until it will be accepted in bakefile CVS, of course ;)): Just copy frm-bakefile/rules/pkgconfig.bkl into /home/john/lib/frm_bakefile/install/rules (maybe you'll also want to copy kdevelop.bkl). The class itself yes, but a list of smrt pointers now uses a simple a2dlist as base, is derived from STL as container. Before we used wxList as container, but i am glad i moved to STL. Anyway for wxLua wxList is maybe the best choice for the moment, so i can easily make that again. Just a few lines of code. I think i best prepare a header and source file, containing all that is needed here. This will make it simple for you to use it. Klaas -- Unclassified |

I'm still a little sketchy about smart pointers. Does the template code work in MSVC 6? The last I tried templates VC6 couldn't handle them and I gave up. Your smart pointer class is just a single header file right? Regards, John Labenski |

And you run the script in wxCanlua.acripts/incircles.lua. I get still the same error: attempt to call field `getCan` ( a nil value ). Do you not get this? Now if you change all the name spaces in lua to use wx instead of wxcanlua, it all works well. ( so in the rules file and in the script ). >I also changed the interface file and removed %delete for the classes. >It's meant only for classes that lua itself will delete, like wxColour >for example. > But what if both can happen? Can an object not be created in lua and/or C++? Like here i can imagine one wants to create a wxlCan in lua script, and add objects to it in lua. But in the sample it is all added to C++ instead. >If I >understand correctly the c++ AddObject function takes ownership of the >pointer and deletes it in the destructor. > > Yes, as i say, i can imagine that for a class both can happen. I would say this is a perfect use of smart pointers. In that case Lua and C++ can hold a smrtPtr to the object, who releases it last will delete the object. So making the wxLuaState::m_pTrackedList a smart pointer list, will already solve it. Since then i would use for say the object in a canvas smart pointers too, and all will be fine, no matter if Lua or C++ releases its smrtPtr to the object first. I think it would make thinks easier. However I'm trying to use NVU on my linux... I've added a first draft of install.html to the DOCS directory; it doesn't look bad... Francesco |

Last time I looked at it, IIRC it was using a single database but more than 20 tables in that db... anyway the real problem is not the number of tables but the number of times that they are accessed per page. SF servers are not extremely fast and I prefer a site which looks a bit more 'static' but is faster rather than something CMS-based which is more 'dynamic' but slower ;) >But never mind, i like the PHP solution too ;-) Something i am bussy >learning in combination with mysql. ok, so let's go for PHP. >> Using PHP it's very easy to setup a site using one of the open source web designs at http://www.oswd.org. Me too, I didn't understand what you meant when you said "run scripts" when you asked about this before (maybe it wasn't in CVS then?) and forgot to get back about it. I see that you can do that now. > But this does not work, when run from the run script menu, it still > calls function that are wrong. I've changed wxluacan to use the "wxluacan" namespace and everything seems to work properly. Please let me know if there are other problems. I also changed the interface file and removed %delete for the classes. It's meant only for classes that lua itself will delete, like wxColour for example. A wxColour (wxRect etc) exists only in lua and refed copies of it are passed to c++. You cannot use %delete for a wxWindow on the other hand since wxWidgets deletes the windows itself so when lua tries to delete it when being closed you get a segfault. If I understand correctly the c++ AddObject function takes ownership of the pointer and deletes it in the destructor. Regards, John Labenski |
