Francesco Montorsi (fr...@ho...) wants to submit a component Maintainer: Francesco Montorsi (frm) Component: xml Subdir: xml Parts: DS More infos: wxWidgets: 2.4.x,2.5.x Description: A simple set of classes (wxXml2Namespace, wxXml2NodeProperty, wxXml2Node and wxXml2Document) that interface wxWidgets and libxml2. With this component you can add load/save/edit XML support to your wxWidgets application using all the power of a well-known library like libxml2. |

Francesco Montorsi (fr...@ho...) wants to submit a component Maintainer: Francesco Montorsi (frm) Component: script Subdir: script Parts: DS More infos: wxWidgets: 2.4.x,2.5.x Description: A set of abstract classes to add a script-interpreter to your wxWidgets applications/libraries. The implementation of these interfaces for the Lua, UnderC and CINT interpreters are given. The advantage of a single base interface allows the programmer who wants to use this component to learn how to use a single set of powerful classes: wxLua, wxUnderC and wxCINT all exposes the same functions adding to the program Lua & C++ script-interpreting capabilities. |

Right, thanks, you've obviously given it some thought too. I think I'll stick with 'archive' then please Otto (I think I might as well have it without the 'wx' prefix, though that's not just a big thing). On Wednesday 23 June 2004 5:52 pm, Otto Wyss wrote: > IMO "archive" could mean anything from DBaccess to a collection of > items, I'd prefer if you could choose a more specific name instead. > If you insist on "archive" just say so. I think you're right, people looking down the list won't know what it is. They might think it's an old version of wxCode that's been archived off, or something like that. But I'll stick with it anyway, maybe later on I could put individual archive formats into their own directories, e.g. have a 'tar' project. But for now it'll be easier to me to have just one place to work on everything. Thanks, Mike |

Also MFC users will be confused at archive also (CArchive in MFC is for serialization). However, most class contributions involving MFC and zip files are named CZipArchive or CZip. Plus if Microsoft had to do MFC over again they would use CSerializable after java instead of CArchive. So, I think unless somebody comes up with a better name (I've been trying to come up with one for a while) wxArchive is probably best. Other possible names: wxBundle (OS X users would get confused) wxPackage wxCompressedDir Ryan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Wetherell" <mik...@nt...> To: <wxc...@li...> Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2004 10:39 AM Subject: Re: [wxCode-users] archive: Application for code submission > On Wednesday 23 June 2004 5:52 pm, Otto Wyss wrote: > > IMO "archive" could mean anything from DBaccess to a collection of > > items, I'd prefer if you could choose a more specific name instead. > > If you insist on "archive" just say so. > > Yes, it is a bit generic. I'm probably going to move my zip, bzip and rar stream modules over to this one once (if) it gets accepted (zip compression method 12 is bzip).
