I'm interested in using this software but don't have access to linux box at the moment. I do have a mac. Does anyone have any experience using this with OS X? I have a serial to USB connector. I might be able to get my hands on a mac old enough to have serial but new enough to run OS X. Any advice appreciated.

I've gotten the binaries to compile on OS X and can use the clients (with an upcoming post).
I've used OS X with a Davis Vantage Pro station (via USB->serial) and it worked well.
I'll try to scrounge some time to take it off my FreeBSD box and hook it up to the Mac.
