I've been thinking about this too. On my RH7 system there is an XML file: /usr/share/fonts/fontmaps which has a similar purpose and more versatile format: <?xml version="1.0"?> <fontmap> <font format="type1" metrics="/usr/share/fonts/afms/adobe/pagd8a.afm" glyphs=" /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1/a010015l.pfb" name="AvantGarde-Demi" fullname="IT C Avant Garde Gothic Demi" familyname="ITC Avant Garde Gothic" weight="Demi" ver sion="0.1" alias="URWGothicL-Demi"/> etc. Is this a RedHat-specific thing?
