Martin, I apologize for the trouble. This is a known issue that was fixed in version 3.4.0. I would recommend using 3.4.1. >From the release notes: http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.com/doc/english/release-notes.html#3.4.0 --- Fix a problem where license validation was failing at certain times of the day for servers with timezones east of Japan. Development license keys which have their update times obfuscated were not affected. This was a problem introduced in 3.3.7. --- Sincerely, Leif Mortenson Tanuki Software, Ltd. Hi Leif, we are facing a strange problem with our purchased wrapper licenses and various time zones. If the system runs with our local time zone (Europe/Berlin) all works well. I would like to use the wonderful Wrapper to launch a Swing based application in such way that console window is never displayed. I've tried using javaw in wrapper.java.command, but to no avail. The swing frame gets displayed along with the console window.. Is there any special property to be used to avoid showing the console? Is it possible at all? Thanks in advance, Dima. |

Hi Leif I had a bit the impression that Java Web Start and the wrapper had been done before, just that it was a bit cumbersome to set up. I would mainly like the remote update feature, so that I could have one place with the jar-file and the wrapper would then download the newest version before starting. JVM and wrapper updates are not something that would be important for me. Lars, I am sorry, we do not currently have something written up for this. We we are tying to tie up the 3.5.0 release, but adding more direct support for this is on our todo list for a near term version. To help us, could you please let me know the Java Web Start features that you would require? Auto update and restart, etc? JVM and Wrapper auto updates are a bit more complicated. Hi Is there any information about using the wrapper with Java Web Start, like wrapper.conf parameters or jnlp-file parameters? Thanks Lars |

Peter, You can obtain a trial of the Pro Edition by clicking on the Free Trial button at the top of the page: http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org/doc/english/requestTrial.jsp However, even in you run with the WrapperManager.exec method, it will still launch the child process in the same context. This means that the child will be under the same rules as the service. We will need to make a modification to this method to make it possible to launch a child process into a user's context. It will not be possible to get this into the 3.5.0 release, but we will look into getting into the next version. Thanks. Apart from your internal solution, may be it’s a better way to start an separate gui process. Do I understand it right, that I only can do it with your professional edition with the command WrapperManager.execute ? If this is correct, can I get the version for evaluation ? Betreff: Re: [Wrapper-user] Service and GUI Hallo Peter, this is as Leif mentioned earlier because of the changed windows service policy. Starting with Windows Vista services run isolated in session 0, which is basically a desktop exclusively for services. Prior to that the first logged in user had session 0, the second user session 1 etc. http://msdn.microsoft.com/de-de/library/aa480152.aspx#ID0EFZAE We had already some internal discussions here on how to resolve this and got a resolution which shows quite promise (initial tests showed good results), however it will still take a bit until this is finalized implemented. Hallo Peter, this is as Leif mentioned earlier because of the changed windows service policy. Peter, Yes, this is a known issue with Windows Vista, 7, and 2008. It is unfortunately not something that the Wrapper can do anything about however. Windows decided to remove a service's ability to interact with the active user desktop. See the following: http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org/doc/english/prop-ntservice-interactive.html We have been looking into ways of making this possible again, but the only solutions we have come up with involve creating a second process and or JVM that runs in the user desktop environment. If anyone has any ideas or feedback on this subject, we would like to hear it. Hi, If it's possible I would like to start a complex swing application for the service process. If it is not possible, we can live with a icon in the statusbar to restart the service. Something between would be fine. Do you have any kind of documentation or link how to implement a icon (with menu) in the windows symbol task bar? Juan,
Good news, I found the problem. In your
VentanaApagar.initComponents() method, you have the following:
---
setDefaultCloseOperation(javax.swing.WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
---
This is telling the JVM to Exit when the window is closed. See the
following page for more information:
http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/swing/WindowConstants.html#EXIT_ON_CLOSE
If you change it to the following then your application will continue to run:
---
setDefaultCloseOperation(javax.swing.WindowConstants.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE);
---
The docs say the JVM "may" exit when the last window is closed. So
you may want to try one of the other options.
Please let me know how this works for you.
Cheers,
Leif

http://www.sendspace.com/file/cfjrzu Leif, this is a link of a proyect I remake to reply the mistake. It was made in Netbeans 6.8. when you install and start the service you can see a GUI cronometer, also in the down of your screen you can see a java bar program, if you close this like the picture I shown you before the service stop. If you rebuild the proyect in netbeans you must copy the lib folder into the dist folder. I hope this was usefull. Thanks in advance. Juan |

Juan, The Wrapper is able to load the file as wrapper.dll OR wrapper-windows-x86-32.dll. It does this so that it can have the native library for multiple platforms in the same directly. Users who want to deploy this way make use of the "delta pack" release of the Wrapper. In your case it is working correctly. I am trying to figure out what could be causing this for you. If you could send me a simple class that reproduces this it would be a big help in getting this resolved for you promptly. Leif, I noticed that the DLL was wrong positioned, I fixed it... but I have noticed in the wrapper.log that it can not found the file wrapper-windows-x86-32.dll , but I have never gotten it ... I only have the wrapper.dll file. I did the process once again but everything still with the same mistakes. If I close the GUI , the services stop. When I downloaded the wrapper packet I didn´t have the wrapper-windows-x86-32.dll file. thks Juan Leif Mortenson escribió: > Juan, > Thank you for the log. Juan, Thank you for the log. It shows that there are a few non-daemon threads still running so that is not why the JVM is exiting. Since you are also not calling System.exit, then the most likely cause is a an external source shutting down the JVM. Any Wrapper induced shutdown would result in a log entry being made, so it must be coming directly to the JVM. One of the jobs of the wrapper.dll is to protect the JVM against such signals and log them when they take place. The Wrapper is currently looking in the following directory for the wrapper.dll. The error messages are saying that it does not exist. If the file were found, but simply corrupted then the error message would be different: C:\Documents and Settings\cooljsh\Mis documentos\chamba\cachuelo2\DEPLOY\MonitorLanCenter\lib Is your application something that we could try out locally? Sent off list of course. If not, would it be easy to create a simple class to reproduce what you are seeing? Juan, One problem is that your wrapper.dll file is not being located correctly. See the following error: --- INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager Debug: Unable to load native library: wrapper-windows-x86-32.dll Cause: no wrapper-windows-x86-32 in java.library.path INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager Debug: Unable to load native library: wrapper.dll Cause: no wrapper in java.library.path INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager: INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager: WARNING - Unable to load the Wrapper's native library because none of the INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager: following files: INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager: wrapper-windows-x86-32.dll INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager: wrapper.dll INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager: could be located on the following java.library.path: INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager: C:\Documents and Settings\cooljsh\Mis documentos\chamba\cachuelo2\DEPLOY\MonitorLanCenter\lib INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager: Please see the documentation for the wrapper.java.library.path INFO | jvm 1 | 2010/06/17 22:53:07 | WrapperManager: configuration property. This can happen if 1) something in the JVM calls System.exit. 2) All non daemon threads complete. Both of these cases are normal operation and can be fixed in your application. If your wrapper.dll was being loaded then I would be able to say for sure because of a relevant log message. But without the wrapper.dll, it is also possible that the JVM is receiving a system signal directly which could cause the shutdown. In your case, I don't this is happening however because you are not logging off or anything when the shutdown takes place. Do you have access to the source to see if System.exit is being called? You might want to try adding the following while debug output is enabled. It will cause the Wrapper to log a thread dump as soon as it starts to shutdown. This will show you if all of the non-daemon threads have completed. --- wrapper.filter.trigger.1=ShutdownHook started wrapper.filter.action.1=DUMP --- Please let me know how this works for you.
