Jahanzeb, Ok. Thanks. Can you send me your wrapper.conf file along with the wrapper.log file with wrapper.debug=true set? I will need those to be able to investigate your problem. Hi Mr Leif, Thanks for replying to the email. The version of JWS I mentioned before was a typo, I actually used "3.5.20" community edition. I am using another application "MPJ-Express" to be exact, which launches daemons on remote machines. It didnt have support for ARM which I am trying to add by using JWS Regards -Jahanzeb On Mon, Jul 29, 2013 at 10:28 AM, Leif Mortenson < lei...@ta...> wrote: > Syed > Sorry for the delay getting back to you. > Is this a build that you made yourself from the Community Edition? > We did not add support for ARM platforms until version 3.5.16. Syed Sorry for the delay getting back to you. Is this a build that you made yourself from the Community Edition? We did not add support for ARM platforms until version 3.5.16. There were some changes needed to make it work, so I would suggest trying one of our official builds (3.5.20) and seeing how that works for you. If you still see a problem with 3.5.20, please send your wrapper.conf file along with the wrapper.log file with wrapper.debug=true set. Cheers, Leif On Fri, Jul 19, 2013 at 12:11 PM, Syed. Hi all, I would like to announce the release of 3.5.20 of the Java Service Wrapper. This version is primarily a bug fix release: *) Greatly reduced the memory footprint on all platforms when huge lines of output were being processed from the JVM. *) Fixed a couple HPUX issues. and a few other minor issues. Please see the release notes for a full list of changes: http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org/doc/english/release-notes.html#3.5.20 The full release is available on the Wrapper site: http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.com/doc/english/download.jsp In addition to our internal testing, when release new versions, they are released as "Unstable" for a period of approximately 2 weeks. If after that time we have not received any reports of critical problems the version will be upgraded to "Stable" on the site. This makes it possible for you to decide whether you would like to try out the latest and greatest version or stick with a safer known version for deployment with your applications. As always, please let us know how we can continue to improve the Java Service Wrapper to meet your needs. Sincerely, Leif Mortenson Tanuki Software, Ltd. http://www.tanukisoftware.com |

Kathir, First of all, please consider upgrading to a new version. 3.2.0 was released way back in 2006. There have been many many improvements, including support for more modern versions of Windows. http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.com/doc/english/versions.jsp The shutdown is not happening due to a System.exit call. Java works by keeping track of how many non-daemon threads (Threads without their daemon flag set) are still running. When the last non-daemon thread exits, the JVM assumes that the application is "complete" and launches all of the shutdown hooks. You can see that from the following message: INFO | jvm 1 | 2013/06/21 14:11:02 | All non-daemon threads have stopped. Exiting. This appears to be happening right after startup, The main method passed to WrapperSimpleApp appears to be exiting immediate as seen here: INFO | jvm 1 | 2013/06/21 14:10:58 | WrapperSimpleApp: start(args) end. Hi, I am using the Java Service Wrapper version 3.2.0 to invoke my Java application and seeing this issue of wrapper getting started then stopping in few seconds. I am seeing this only with the Windows 7 Spanish Version. I am not sure whether it is a known issue so posting on this forum. JDK Version which we use with our application is 1.6.0_20. Here, JVM is requesting for its shutdown which would happens when there is a call to System.exit() since I do not see this issue with other platform even with the Windows7 English version this issue does not exist. It would be great if you can suggest me to what should I look for on this front. David, I am sorry for the delay. I had a discussion with our team about this request. For architectural reasons, it will be difficult to implement this in 3.5.x, but will be fairly strait forward to add for our 3.6.0 release. I have added this to the list to get in for that release. Hi Leif, Thank you for your reply. I know I can get the properties using the WrapperManager, but I can do that only for the current configuration. What I need is to be able to load the properties for all the wrapper applications running on a machine. So given a conf file I need to parse it and extract all the properties taking into account the possibility of having included conf files. David, The Wrapper's configuration file is not exactly the same as a Java Properties file. The Wrapper also supports things like cascading etc amongst other things. If you only need the current configuration file, you can get this by calling WrapperManager.getProperties(). Please let me know if you need something else as it may be useful for a future release. I'm basically a new user to your product. I started a new job about 6 months ago and the product has been working fine. However, this last weekend our system admin installed our application on an upgraded Windows server, Windows 2008 R2 64-bit. Again, why would that happen? c. Will this version of the wrapper run in a 64-bit server? If not, is this why we're getting this weird behavior? Again, any help/direction would be greatly appreciated. Just an FYI, for security reasons, I changed some of the values of the conf and XXXServer.xml files denoted above. Thanks. Hi, I would like to extract programmatically all the properties from a configuration file. The WrapperProperties class extends Java Properties, but if I load the properties using the following code: Properties prop = new Properties(); prop.load(new FileInputStream(confFilePath)); Then it doesn't take into account the include statements, the '\' are not escaped ... Given a configuration file, what is the easiest way to load all the properties, including the ones in the included conf files? Thanks, David |

Hi Mitch, I'm very sorry for the delay. Please note that you are setting the property 'wrapper.java.additional.7' twice, which results in the second declaration overwriting the first. You should change: wrapper.java.additional.7=-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=12345 to: wrapper.java.additional.11=-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=12345 in order to fix it. Hi Ani, if you hit CTRL-C twice, this tells the Wrapper to forcibly kill the JVM. At this stage, the JVM will also not be given the chance to execute its shutdown hooks. Apart from that the way you registered the shutdown hook looks ok to me. You can disable the function to forcibly kill the JVM on hitting CTRL-C twice by setting: wrapper.disable_forced_shutdown=FALSE http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.com/doc/english/prop-disable-forced-shutdown.html Hope this information helps you out. Dummy me, java was pointing to the jre instead of the jdk, so tools.jar
issue is solved.
Only script problem (solved via manually ant) and the following remains:

Hello Christian,
I've installed anything which is needed (I think) however something went
wrong during the build.
The script itself failed, therefore I executed the ant manually (see
below), but still no success.
I also mis the tools.jar.
pi@raspberrypi ~/wrapper_prerelease_3.5.17 $ echo $JAVA_HOME
/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-armhf/jre
pi@raspberrypi ~/wrapper_prerelease_3.5.17 $ echo $ANT_HOME

Hi Ani, thank you for your interest in the Java Service Wrapper. Please change the following property in your conf file: wrapper.java.mainclass=com.ast.server.EmbeddedJettyServer to: wrapper.java.mainclass=org.tanukisoftware.wrapper.WrapperSimpleApp And also change: #wrapper.app.parameter.1= to: wrapper.app.parameter.1=com.ast.server.EmbeddedJettyServer there is also a typo: wrapper.java.additional.8-DpublicIP= should be changed to: wrapper.java.additional.8=-DpublicIP= I think with this changes, you should be able to launch your application properly. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you, Christian Mueller Tanuki Software, Ltd.
