Qian,
How are you catching the error. The Wrapper works by processing the JVM
console output. There is no way to trigger off of an exception unless
there is some
output to the console. Make sure the text "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError" is
showing up in the console and wrapper.log
Cheers,
Leif

Hi, I tried to use the config: wrapper.filter.trigger.1=java.lang.OutOfMemoryError wrapper.filter.action.1=RESTART so that when some error occurs, my application can restart by itself. however, it doesn't seem to work. in my code i wrote something like throw OutOfMemoryError; but looks like my application is still running. Is there something that i am missing here? any hint is greatly appreicated. Thanks __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Matthew, Most likely you are not running with the JVM that you think you are. If you are using the following in your config file then the Wrapper will be locating java on the system path: wrapper.java.command=java Try doing something like this: wrapper.java.command=%JAVA_HOME%/bin/java You can see what is being run by adding the property: wrapper.debug=true Cheers, Leif Matthew Pearson wrote: > > Hi, > > I'm trying to run a Java app using Java Service Wrapper on Linux. Hi, I'm trying to run a Java app using Java Service Wrapper on Linux. The application runs fine by itself, but when I try to run it using the script method described on the Java Service Wrapper web site I get a class file versioning error: [mp49@pc003 bin]$ run_ddh console Running DdhMonitorService... wrapper | --> Wrapper Started as Console wrapper | Launching a JVM... jvm 1 | java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: gda/ddh/monitor/DdhMonitorService (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0) etc..... I'm using the latest JDK (version 5_06), so I'm not sure what's causing this. A google search didn't help much. Thanks, Matthew |

I am very sorry. I changed everything in by wrapper.conf, only I forgot to change wrapper.java.mainclass, it remained set to wrapper.java.mainclass=org.tanukisoftware.wrapper.test.Main Once more, sorry for bothering you. Hallo, I am using Wrapper 3.1.2 on Win32 running my application as a service without any problem (great work anyway). I tried the same on Linux (SuSE 9.3) using almost the same configuration, but the wrapper refuses to start neither as "console" nor as "daemon" (my testwrapper script has "IGNORE_SIGNAL" and "RUN_AS_USER" uncommented), the result is same: STATUS | wrapper | 2006/01/12 15:35:15 | --> Wrapper Started as Console STATUS | wrapper | 2006/01/12 15:35:15 | Launching a JVM... What I do not understand is, why the wrapper tries to connect to X server - I have no intention to run the Swing (or any other) GUI in my application and I do not expect this from wrapper. Therefore could you please help me, how to suppress wrapper attempts to launch Swing and access X server, so that the wrapper and JVM starts ? (Something like wrapper.ntservice.interactive=false on Windows). Thank you very much in advance. Errol,
I have been trying to rework the build to cleanly build both 64 and
32 bit versions of
the Wrapper. The Windows-64 build was set up from notes from another
user but has
not yet been tested. I don't personally have access to any 64-bit
systems to test with.
There are probably going to be several things that need changing.
Any help would be
appreciated getting the build working out of the box.
Cheers,
Leif

I noticed this in CVS for 3.2.0-b. I've been trying to get a 64bit executable and dll to build for weeks now with no success. I tried Build64.bat but still was not sucessful. Does this build a true 64bit executable for the AMD64 platform? Also, does It rely on the Windows DDK to do it? Thanks! Subject: Re: [Wrapper-user] classpath environment variable Alejandra, I probably need to add some docs or maybe even a new property to make this more obvious. But you should be able to do the following: wrapper.java.classpath.2=%CLASSPATH% This should work because the native classpath setting will always be using the classpath separator for the current platform. It will not work however if the CLASSPATH environment variable itself contains quotes. Please post back confirming that this works, along with the platform you tried it on. Catalin, Exactly. I have already added new event listener methods in 3.2.0 which can be used without having to implement the WrapperListener interface yourself. Working on trying to get that out the door. Thanks for your comments Leif, i'll use a thread then :), no problem.
Regarding this, it's clear that i need to use integration method 3, and i have to override start/stop and controlEvent methods of the WrapperSimpleApp class, and reuse as much other code as possible, because i need to run JBoss as service and show an icon on the tray bar when is running.
The problem is that there is now way to extend, for ex, the WrapperSimpleApp class and reuse code as much as possible, i need to copy the source as it is in my custom WrapperSimpleApp that will also contain code to manage the tray icon. Is this right? it looks like i would realy use another listener interface that is notified for the main usable events without beeing involved in running the wrapped app....is it possible to consider providing such an interface and events?

Catalin

The feature was actually added in version 3.1.0, but there was a
memory leak in
the call.
Due to a couple other bugs however, I would suggest using 3.1.2.
That version
is very stable.

Steve,
If the wrapper.exe is still running, then it remaining locked is
correct.
I have not seen or heard of any other users having problems with the
wrapper process
sticking around after stopping it on Windows. Is the java process still
running as well?
How are you stopping the wrapper service? I would like to see the
output of your
application's wrapper.log file, with wrapper.debug=true set, from a run
reproducing
this.
Cheers,
Leif

Bashiro,
I frequently set up applications which have the following real path:
/home3/apps/myapp_solaris_1.0.1
Then I create a symbolic link which makes it simple to upgrade /
downgrade:
/home3/apps/myapp -> /home3/apps/myapp_solaris_1.0.1
Finally, I add a second symbolic link from the init scripts.
/etc/init.d/myapp -> /home3/apps/myapp/bin/myapp
I have done this on Debian as well as Solaris personally.
Cheers,
Leif

Alejandra, I probably need to add some docs or maybe even a new property to make this more obvious. Bashiro, How are you referencing the java binary? Are you using the JAVA_HOME=20 environment variable. It is possible that that environment variable is not=20 properly setup at boot time. You may need to hard code the JAVA_HOME setting into the shell script or = define it in your wrapper.conf file using set.JAVA_HOME=3Dnnn Cheers, Leif Bashiro wrote: > Hello again, > > > > Could anyone help? Hello all,
After a day and a half of struggle with the above issue, here's how I=20
got to work:
* Download the source code from sourceforge (I used 3.1.2).
* In the file src/c/Makefile.linux, the first line will look like =
this:
o "COMPILE =3D gcc -O3 -Wall --pedantic -pthread =
-DUSE_NANOSLEEP"
o Add " -lm -fPIC -m64" to the end of the line. It should now
look like this:
+ "COMPILE =3D gcc -O3 -Wall --pedantic -pthread
-DUSE_NANOSLEEP -lm -fPIC -m64"
* In build.xml, replace both occurrences of:
o target=3D"1.2"
* with:
o target=3D"1.4" source=3D"1.4"
* Make sure you have a 64-bit JVM as your JAVA_HOME
* Then run "./build.sh"
Job done.
