It is possible, but the problem still remains. Under windows services it = is not there as a different name either. Would changing the name while = it is installed remove the old name from the list and NOT put a new one = in?=20 =20 Its basically like there is a ghost service on the machine.=20 =20 And i have tried changing the name back to the 1 other name it was = before at some point, but that did nothing. =20 thanks for your response, Ross Klingensmith=20 Lockheed Martin IS&S - Valley Forge, PA=20 610-354-4122=20 -----Original Message----- From: wra...@li... = [mailto:wra...@li...] On Behalf Of Rog=E9rio Sent: Friday, July 15, 2005 1:08 PM To: wra...@li... Then I went to = start the service and it started fine. Now the big issue: 1) if I try to stop the service, windows says that it doesn't exist=20 2) if I try to start the service it says its already running=20 3) if I try to uninstall it says its still running so cant=20 4) if I try to install it says its already installed as a = service.....(which conflicts with 1.) )=20 5) the service does NOT show up under windows services when in control = panel=20 I am not sure what would cause this given that all other services are = working properly. If you have any idea as to how this could happen or = what to do it would be greatly appreciated. (Worst case scenario I can = just rename the service and run it as that, but my managers don't want = to do that ) Since this was one of the first services I wrote a few weeks ago, it = is possible that I changed some of the ntservice properties in the = config file while the service was unknowingly running. Would that = explain this problem? And is there an easy way to fix it? Thank you in advance=20 Ross Klingensmith=20 |
