David, I am sorry you are having trouble. The Wrapper ships with a 15 minute timed license call src/conf/wrapper-license-timed.conf in the Wrapper distribution. You should be able to use this for quick tests without needing to obtain an actual trial license. This should be very painless and simple so I would of course like to help you resolve the problem.
