Windows Vista Handles Interactive services quite differently than previous versions of Windows. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms683502.aspx For security reasons, it no longer allows interactive services to run along side other non-secure applications as they can access each other via their windows. To avoid this, the servicee is forced to display itself in an isolated desktop. I believe that is what you are seeing. I am going to do some more research on this and come up with a suggested way of handling this.
