Characters like German umlaut characters (äöü) are
ignored in values in the config file. If e.g. a path
name of a file contains umlaut characters, the file is
not found.
The problem is in src/c/property.c (line 389), routine
setInnerProperty, in the followjng code sequence:
/* Strip any non valid characters like control
characters */
for (i = 0, count = 0; i < (int)strlen(buffer);
i++) {
if (buffer[i] > 31) /* Only add valid
chars, skip control chars */
property->value[count++] = buffer[i];
}
When compiled with msvc98, char variables are signed.
Characters like äöü are less than 0.
To solve the problem, the IF statement can be changed,
e.g.:
if ((unsigned char)buffer[i] > 31) ...

Christian,
I made the changes that you suggested however, on my
Japanese system, it was working before the change.
Character sets are a bit different on every system, so it
may be that I simply can't test this here. I have
submitted the fix and it will be in the 3.1.3 release.
Could you please download the following development build
and let me know whether or not it fixes the problem on your
system? (Let me know if you are not using Windows)
http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org/tmp/3.1.3-a/wrapper_win32_3.1.3-a.zip
Thanks,
Leif

Hi,
I'm having similar problems with Spanish characters (e.g. ,
, ) on a Linux system, where those letters in the config file
are omitted when passed in as path name. For
example, "/usr/tgol" is received when "/usr/tgol" is
specified in the config file.
Is it possible to obtain a development binary containing this
fix for testing?
Thanks.

In Java terms, what is the character encoding for the
configuration file? In other words, if I was getting ready
to write the configuration file and had to complete this
statement...
Writer w = new OutputStreamWriter(
new FileOutputStream(filename),
"???");
What character encoding would I specify in place of the ???
My preferred answer would be "UTF-8"
Thanks!
