If the terminal width is reduced to fewer characters than are needed to start the wrapper it is not correctly detected (substring) and the PID is marked as stale.
passing -ww to ps fixes this issue.
needed for the getpid() method of src/bin/sh.script.in
possibly related to the change suggested in #1725734

Of course, this does not work as expected on non-mac machines, so I ended up using this:
pidtest=`$PSEXE -p $pid -ww | grep "$WRAPPER_CMD" | tail -1`
if [ "X$pidtest" = "X" ]
then
pidtest=`$PSEXE -p $pid -o args | grep "$WRAPPER_CMD" | tail -1`

Sorry, comment on the wrong bug - the -ww works just fine, but requires the attatched fix for bug 1725734 to work correctly.

Sorry the 3.3.0 release has been taking a while to get everything tied up.
This problem is known and has been fixed for the next release.
You can get a copy of the latest script here:
http://wrapper.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/\*checkout*/wrapper/trunk/wrapper/src/bin/sh.script.in
Cheers,
