If I log into my windows machine remotely using ssh, and I try to install a java service using the config property:
wrapper.ntservice.password.prompt=TRUE
the wrapper.exe will hang, presumably b/c it is trying to open up a new window to read in the password (which it can't do over ssh). Seems like a better approach would be for the wrapper to read in the password from the standard-in of command line that it was executed from. That way you can install a service remotely via ssh.

This actually appears to be a more general problem-- if I don't use the window's command shell to install the service. E.g., if I try to install the service under a cygwin/bash shell, the wrapper will appear to hang waiting for the password (no prompt comes up).

David,
The password prompt actually is expecting input from stdin as follows:
---
d:\SourceForge\wrapper>bin\InstallTestWrapper-NT.bat
Please input the password for account '.\leif':
---
Do you see the prompt using the ssh tool?
Have you tried it using a normal command prompt?
Could you point me to the ssh tool you are using so I can try it out? That would save me some time tracking it down.
Cheers,
Leif
