Hi there!
What a great program... it has everything I need - PLUS
a very good motion detection (as far as I can see using
the "Points" scan type).
But - I've got a problem...
The program really runs fine: cheap-webcam ($7 from
Ebay) live video is displayed - text can be inserted
into the picture and so on. I can see the cam pictures
on my screen with the "motion detection dots" being
dispayed. They tell me I've got those settings right.
So I decided to save those pics as an AVI video -
changed the filename to *.AVI and all the oder stuff.
And - correctly WJWP sits and waits for something to
happen. Then some motion is seen on my monitor and WJWP
sounds the "Motion detected" sound (and a "picture
take" sound).
I press the "Enable publishing" Button (to save to disk
- I don't want to publish the video to the net at this
time. Maybe later). And when the next motion is
detected, the Video (or a picture) is not saved. The
"Motion detected" default sound is sounded and ... no
*.avi save...
Instead an Error box opens:
Event Log
<NULL>
Messages Time

Image 1 08/05/2005 - 23:12:45
Image 1 08/05/2005 - 23:12:29
Init() 08/05/2005 - 23:01:24
That's it. The error information <null> doesn't help me
very much... I tried to change the encoder for the
video and tried to change the name of the output
directory and tried to change the file name and and and ...
WJWP is cleared in my firewall (that was my next guess,
allthough I'm trying to save the video to my local
harddisk). Didn't help.
Single pictures are saved fine (with all the required
settings). But Videos will not be saved...
Has any other user seen this problem? Any suggestions?
I really love this program - but I need to know how to
save those videos. I probably need a hint for the
settup. Or is this a bug in the program itself? Maybe
the "Event Log" <Null> means "Go away! Throw away your
cheap webcam and sell your computer! Do something
important with your life like planting carrots!" or
something like that...
Bye for now,
Dirk

I too think this is a great software package but do have
the same problem with saving video even after solving the
<Null> error. A video file is created when motion is
detected but it always has zero bytes.
Thanks
