Taken from the World of Warcraft Client Patch 2.1.0 (05/22/2007) "The Black Temple" patch notes:

"Screenshots captured using the Print Screen key are now saved in JPG format."

The first version of WoWShots is available for download. I made it because Photoshop took way too long to open and save the twenty or so screenshots I had.
