New PHPWeb & Icon Releases, More Coming

We have released the latest PHPWeb and PHPWeb Icon packages on SF.

We will shortly have a new release for the addon, but the latest is currently in CVS. We have a tooltip bug that seems to be affecting several addons since 1.10. We are currently working to resolve and test the fixes. When we verify the fixes, we'll check the changes into CVS and create a new release.

Also note that we have a brand new version of the client on it's way! It sports a completely new look and feel with many bug fixes and improvements. Expect to see the beta soon.... read more

Updated AddOn for 1.8

Over the past week we have update the addon to include several fixes that were causing issues. One of them we ran into was pretty important to fix, regarding the talent tree tabs. A user with multiple points to spend would spend one point and the tab would switch to the first talent tab if they were not already on it. This caused a few people to mis-spend talent points. Sorry, but we just caught this! Not sure how long it has been happening.... read more

Updated packages to the latest and greatest

We have now updated the latest version of our code on SourceForge in CVS and we have created new packages. The client/server/jws packages are versioned the same, which we hope to continue the practice of for clarity sake. Also updated is the PHP Web package that many of you have been asking for.

Note that the JWS package is the Java Web Start component of the server that has been pulled out of the server for quicker/easier deployment of new versions of WoW Companion.... read more

New Release 0.2.6!

A new version of the client/server with many bug fixes has been launched on wowcompanion.net. This release solves some long-standing issues and some recent ones that cropped up including: OutOfMemory exceptions, failure to install the addon, etc.

Again, new SF releases will be out soon (which means as soon as we get around to packaging everything up for release), but again we would highly encourage you to use Java Web Start. If you are going to use a client against wowcompanion.net, please please please use the Java Web Start version.... read more

Releases All Around

Here is what many of you have been waiting for. This is our latest version of each component, bundled and released for your enjoyment.

The client is packaged separately for those who desire to take a look apart from the client, however the client is all that is needed (it will download and install the addon from the server). The preferred way for you to run the client is via Java Web Start (http://wowcompanion.net/), however we do provide the standalone client on SF. Note that this client will NOT automatically update to the latest version and there may be a delay between the production server upgrades and the standalone client upgrades.... read more

It has been up for several days now, just getting around to posting about it. Still in the process of finding a suitable host to move it to.

Sorry folks, the server's motherboard fried, so wowcompanion.net is down atm. We are working to get it up and looking into changing to a different hosting company. Bear with us for a bit here.

Issue Tracking & Voting System

We have decided to use the Jira Issue Tracking System for WoWCompanion over the bug tracking system provided on SF. For all issues/feature requests/etc. please use Jira, located at:

http://apps.wowcompanion.net/issues/

Jira will also let you vote on which bugs you would like to see fixed first. We don't make any guarantees, but we are very interested in which features others would like to see added.... read more

WoWC Client v0.1.10 Coming

We are wrapping up some testing and will be releasing v0.1.10 soon. It contains a debug flag so that users can send in traces when they encounter problems. Logging, tab order improvements and better error messages are some of the fixes in the new release.

New WoWC Client & Upload Server!

This release is primarily aimed at pointing to the new wowcompanion.net servers by default. Character data will be uploaded and can be viewed at http://www.wowcompanion.net/. Version 0.1.8 and above can also be configured to point to the new server by selecting File -> Configure Server and entering in:

http://apps.wowcompanion.net/wowcompanion/upload

Though distributions are still being made via SF, the preferred way for using and updating WoW Companion is now by using Java Web Start. The JNLP file is located here:... read more

Patched Server Release

There was a bug that managed to work it's way into the release, which had been fixed at one point, that caused the XML character data for profiles with more than 1 character to be both malformed and contain other character data in it. All because of one little failure to reset an XML data buffer...sigh.

Please update to v0.1.8 which solves the problem.

First WoW Companion Release!

The client, server, and PHP web frontend modules have all been released. Work on a quickstart is underway and should help those that want a dirt simple configuration (albeit with some performance constraints) or just an easy way to evaluate WoWC.

Spam us with feature requests, bug reports, etc. Thanks!

Release on it's way

All the files have been checked into CVS and I am still cleaning things up to make everything simple and easy for someone to get up and running with the client/server or both.

I will be double-checking everything, building the release .jar/.war/.exe files and posting them soon. Then I am going to work on getting the quickstart bundle up that has preconfigured Tomcat/HSQLDB instances for demo purposed and those who want simple/pure java setups.... read more
