As distributed in its current form, it won't even compile on MacOSX because of problems with Jikes. I've spent the better part of this week trying out several parts of project wonder (using javac, what's wrong anyway with javac that you people are using Jikes?) and ran in on some of the best coding I've seen in my career as a software engineer sofar. I also stumbled on a severe lack of documentation and sample applications. Most users already have problems with the steep learning curve of WebObjects, let alone the learning curve Project Wonder will confront them with. If you want your project to succeed, make sure it's usable and give your potential users a head start by providing documentation and working sample projects, or at least supply instructions to get these samples working. Without proper documentation you'll confront the potential users of Project Wonder with hurdles they might not be able to overcome. To put foot in mouth, I'm willing to invest essential time in contributing in this project, only because I'm convinced of the true potential. Regards, Jan Willem Luiten. |
