I had to apply the attached patch to get the kernel to compile. gcc
doesn't like doing a ?: test on an undefined function apparently. This
is on a RedHat Rawhide system with compat-gcc-7.3-2.96.118 (I'm using
gcc 2.96 to compile the kernels).
