Probably it hits one of the security features. Look in the kernel log, try
strace etc.

Have it dump core and use gdb on the dump to obtain a backtrace and see
where it died.

Unfortunately, I have my clairvoyance turned off, so I have no idea what
kernel options you enabled or where icewm segfaults...
