Hi Rob,
As suggested i logged the installation but to have the installation logged i
used the command
misexec /i "[Path to MSI]/[PackageName].msi" /qr /livera
"[logpath]/[logFilename].log" but the installer instlled completely without
any errors with a reduced UI.
  Windows event viewer had caputred the infomration required when i had done
the installation manually with out using the command.This was the
information available in event viewer.
Product: MOC VP -- The installer has encountered an unexpected error
installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The
error code is 2812. The arguments are: SelectionBrowse, , 
and as you told its one of those published events.

After referring some other projects installer code i could find that my code
was missing one more publish task.
<Publish Property="_BrowseProperty" Value="INSTALLFOLDER"
Order="11">1</Publish>
After having this task added the issue got resolved.
But this wasn't specified in the Wix tutorial web site.Still don't
understand how it made the difference.
