Justin, Im curious as to why you are passing ucfirst($type) as the second parameter. That is the first line in the code block :-) I believe your bug is happening @ line 275 >> $peerName = $type.'sPeer'; The system cannot find the associated peer type. Try putting in a die( 'peerName: ' . $peerName ); on the next line and see if it is return what you are expecting (in this case: EventsPeer). -Rehan On Mon, Feb 16, 2009 at 12:38 AM, Justin Tilson <jus...@gm...>wrote: > I've got an entity called 'event' that won't network because the following > line from executeRelationsWizard() in genericActions.class.php > > $fromRecord = > GenericModel::getEntityObjectByMasteridAndType($this->from_masterid, > ucfirst($this->from_type)); > > returns null. > > The '$this->from_masterid' is being passed in and is correct and the event > with the selected masterid exists in the database yet the method fails to > load the event object. > > I'm baffled. I've got an entity called 'event' that won't network because the following line from executeRelationsWizard() in genericActions.class.php $fromRecord = GenericModel::getEntityObjectByMasteridAndType($this->from_masterid, ucfirst($this->from_type)); returns null. The '$this->from_masterid' is being passed in and is correct and the event with the selected masterid exists in the database yet the method fails to load the event object. I'm baffled. It looks exactly like all my other entities which work just fine. I tried deleting all the event code and added back the event entity. This did not fix the problem. Any ideas? thx Justin |

log/frontend_prod.log:Jan 14 05:53:45 symfony [err] {sfConfigurationException} The component does not exist: "institution", "searchRefinePanel" The default deployment of version r69, comes with an 'institution' entity. I happened to need an institution entity so bonus. The problem is that it errors when I try to load the search pane to connect it with another institution. All my new entities work just fine. I haven't been able to figure out what a component is or where it needs to be configured. Any suggestions? I could delete the institution entity and start over but I thought it would be valuable to learn about components. thx Justin |

I would like to be able to provide a textarea or a small HTML enabled editor for additional long text fields. ex: array('Label'=>'Phone', 'Getter'=>'getPhone', 'Type'=>'Input'), <-- Checkbox, Radio, Textarea, HTML ??? thx Justin |

I just tried using the article (WikiPage) functionality and found that the add article functionality is broken. No errors in the log but the following dumps out to the screen: not an object toObj: [article]NULL fromObj: [group]object I'm still getting oriented so this message isn't giving me a lot to run with. Can anyone with a little more exposure give me a clue? thx Justin |

I'm trying to get the "new_pre" functionality working for my new entities in the same manner you have on WiserEarth. Thereby allowing the user to see if their new entity exists before creating a new one. All the routing and files appear to be in the distribution but it doesn't work because newPreSuccess.php is trying to include a file: include_partial($entity . '/newPre_helptext'); that doesn't exist. I added the required file '_newPre_helptext.php' to wiser_platform/apps/frontend/modules/<entity>/templates/ and now it works. Perhaps you could add this file to your distribution with an HTML comment so newbies can figure out how it works a little more quickly. thx Justin |

The symfony sfView and sfController classes are responsible for rendering the newSuccess view, storing the results as $content, and then injecting that back into the page layout. To understand the basics of how the actions are called and the views are rendered, I highly recommend reading the relevant chapters of the symfony book: http://www.symfony-project.org/book/1_0/06-Inside-the-Controller-Layer http://www.symfony-project.org/book/1_0/07-Inside-the-View-Layer If you just want to add some fields to each entity the process is detailed here: http://wiserplatform.org/documentation/index.php?title=Adding_fields_to_an_entity Tim. I'm trying to familiarize myself with how the entity pages are assembled. To start with, I'm trying to understand how the new entity page works. I've followed the instructions on adding fields<http://wiserplatform.org/documentation/index.php?title=Adding_fields_to_an_entity>successfully. This is what I've got so far: /wiser_platform/apps/frontend/templates/layout.php is the master template with contains a variable called '$content'. >From what I can tell the value of '$content' is populated by: /wiser_platform/apps/frontend/modules/<entity>/templates/common/newSuccess.php I can't figure out where/how '$content' gets populated by the code in newSuccess.php. Something must be weaving these two pieces together. Right now all entities share the common template ('newSuccess.php') but I need to tweak my install so each entity will use their own version of newSuccess.php because I'm adding questions and sustainability indicators that are unique to each entity. thx Justin |

Currently, the focus of Wiser Platform is not a plug-and-play application, it is intended as a tool to help developers quickly customize a social networking site without having to write the entire thing from scratch. In order to really make use of the platform it requires some level of programming/admin knowledge. PHP experience is really essential along with knowledge about how to set up the LAMP stack. Some knowledge of symfony or other MVC frameworks is also very helpful. Tim. |

Greetings, Compliments First off, my compliments to the great initiative you have set up in freely distributing the Wiserplatform. I also really like the Wiser Earth website and it is very close to what I wish for a future NGO network website in my region. Plans for a website I have been searching different platforms (Drupal, Joomla, Commercial-based etc.) to build our future web presence, but with a readily available open source solution such as the wiserplatform it is hard to say no, as it has many pluses - look, simplisity, functionnality, open source -and good vibes! Question: Where to begin - Installation Being use to WYSIWYG approaches, with very little programming knowledge and a MS Windows user, I ask you if this platform is for me. Where to start, as it appears it is running on Unix. Although, I could eventually host the site on a Unix based system, meanwhile how do I set it up to be able to build my website as well as maintain it. Any suggestions for the novice and MS user? Could I use a linux OS such as Ubuntu to unpack your platform? Would this meet system requirements? I guess you see where I am heading with my questions... Thank you for the time you may put in answering my questions. Lemlok _________________________________________________________________ |
