Yes, the platform is well suited to Linux and I currently have my
development setup running on Ubuntu.

Currently, the focus of Wiser Platform is not a plug-and-play application,
it is intended as a tool to help developers quickly customize a social
networking site without having to write the entire thing from scratch.  In
order to really make use of the platform it requires some level of
programming/admin knowledge.  PHP experience is really essential along with
knowledge about how to set up the LAMP stack.  Some knowledge of symfony or
other MVC frameworks is also very helpful.
