Button Editor

By default WinTVBrowser does not come with any pre-configured buttons. However you can download some from the Files tab here on sourceforge.
They belong inside the "buttons" folder under your Documents\WinTVBrowser folder.

Button Editor

On the left of the screen is the list of all the buttons found in your Documents\WinTVBrowser\buttons folder.

  1. Specify a Name for your button. No spaces or special characters, nor numbers. Just alphabetical text
  2. The Filename will automatically be filled, as it will use the Name, you are free to change this, and can rename it later.
  3. Image will be the image that you want to use for the button. There are some included in the installdir\WinTVBrowser\media folder. installdir being the location to which you installed WinTVBrowser
  4. You can leave the image field blank, and the button will have the Name that you specified displayed on the button.
  5. Category you will need to select this in order for the button to be displayed in the correct menu with the same name.
  6. Zoom is used for each individual button, to zoom into the website for better viewing.
  7. Link/App here you can specify the website URL if linking the button to a website. Or click on the ... next to it to specify an application on your PC if you are adding it to the Launch menu.
  8. Argument is only used for the Launch menu items, and will be ignore by the Watch and Listen menus. You can launch an application and pass arugment to it. For example: Launching steam.exe with -bigpicture as the argument, will launch Steam in Big Picture Mode.
  9. Watch pages is use if you want video to go into fullscreen automatically. This you can get from the URL that the site has the player on. For example: YouTube has watch as a word in the URL on which the player is. Using this in the field will check for the keyword. The same applies to just about all website that stream video, though they might use different keywords.
  10. Fullscreen key is the key used by the player on the page. Pressing "F" on a YouTube video switches it to fullscreen. This is also true for almost all other players on different website. Even on Netflix.
  11. Allow popups, if this checked, it will allow the website to open popup windows. Quite annoying if you are visiting a website full of ads. Leave unticked to avoid that situation.
  12. Show window is expirimental, and is for launching application. Unticking it might make the application that you launch not show the UI. This is untested.

Watch pages is used to monitor the URL on which the media player is located.
Examples:

Youtube
Netflix

As can be seen above, the URL contains the word "watch". Different websites may use "series", or "movies".
Therefore you will use these words in the Watch pages field. Comma seperated, no spaces. ex: "watch, series, movies"

Fullscreen key is the keyboard shortcut that the media player on the page uses to switch to fullscreen. This is usually always "F". You can check the player settings on the site that you are using.

Click on the Save button to save the config.
Clear empties all fields and restores them to default.
Delete deletes the selected button file permanently.
Close closes the screen, and returns you to the application.

To rename a button file, select it from the list, change the name in the Filename field, and click on the Rename button.
You do not have to click Save for this.

To rename the button name, click on it in the list, change the Name. amd click Save. Be aware that this will change the Filename.
Only change the Filename after the button was saved, else you will save a different button file and will end up with duplicates.

Cache Folder

The cache folder in which all your logins are stored by the WebView2 browser (WinTVBrowser itself does not save or pass any passwords to the websites) is located in: c:\Users\username\AppData\Local\WinTVBrowser

Deleting this folder will remove all logins, etc.
When updating the app to the latest version, this folder will remain in-tact, and you won't have to sign into the websites again.
When uninstalling WinTVBrowser, this folder remains, and has be be deleted manually.
