WinMyth.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services
Application has generated an exception that could not
be handled.
Process id=0x88 (3464), Thread id=0xa28 (2600)

This error happens on both machines that I've tried to
install the latest version of the Win32 front end. It
happens immediately when I try to launch the application.

Any idea?

Please attach the winmyth.log file. It's located in the
    program files\winmyth directory

I have the same problem popping up--installation was
successful and could connect to backend MySQL database but
it threw an exception when loaded. Here's the log file

This problem is generally indicative of DSMyth not working
correctly. Are you sure that the MythTV settings are
    correct int he DSMyth filter?

Otherwise, it's a bug a lot of people have been having that
    i can't reproduce. VideoView uses DirectShow. There's a
problem somewhere in the startup of the DirectShow element.
What video card are you using? Do you have the latest drivers?

Check gplmpgdec or similar is installed along with divx or
similar. This fixed this problem for me.

    I have the same problem.
Anything I can do to help?

I get this problem. My backend encodes the files as RTJpeg,
not mpeg4. Could this be the problem?

I'll try an MPEG4 encode and see if that works...

    Sorry, scratch that silly idea.
I don't think the software is even getting that far :(

I have XP professional, latest divx, filters installed with
connected backend database/media player paths OK, pretty
    recent display drivers.
I also installed gplmpgdec, even though I shouldn't need it.
Log file shows the same as others have posted.

Willing to try stuff to get to the bottom of this....
