I still get the same message...
sometimes the process WinMyth.exe stays as a "ghost" in
windows memory...
that's all i can tell :-(

it would perhaps be more helpful if i could click on
"cancel" to debug the programm as it asks me...
but what kind of debugger is needed ?
as i am a coder, i could help a bit if you tell me which
debugger to install... i could give you the exact function
which makes the software crash... or at least more informations

I use visual studios 2003 to develop WinMyth, that would be
the most convinient, but if you dont have it, you can
download the microsoft .NET developer package from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9b3a2ca6-3647-4070-9f41-a333c6b9181d&displaylang=en

That won't get you all the way though, you still need a c++
compiler, microsoft recently released theirs :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=272BE09D-40BB-49FD-9CB0-4BFA122FA91B&displaylang=en

that SHOULD let you compile winmyth (and debug) without
needing visual studios, but i haven't tried it...

The bug is coming from the directshow matting with .net, the
videoview control starts the .net directshow wrapper i
wrote. Without your machine it's very hard for me to diagnose

can you watch shows using the dsmyth filter without winmyth?

0.16.20040906-1 backend.

Network myth access is working to linux frontend.

I have the same problem. I have installed it on 3 different
computers, all Windows XP, 2 with SP2, one without. It just
crashes on startup with the previous message.

I can map a drive to the mythbackend server and open
the .nuv files with bsplayer, so I'm doing that as a work
around for now...

I have the same problem though it would be a good idea to
remove service pack 2 from xp as it does do strange things
to other applications. Service pack 2 only serves to muddy
the waters.
Example Avermedia software breaks after a service pack 2
install.
Remove it and the exceptions stop.
