Hello and thanks. I know I may be way out there on all this so I apologize if I am a complete newbie idiot!
I want to simply record some keys from a remote for the Maxell SB-1 soundbar for which I can find no information. I don't really have any IR receiver save the one found inside the Mygica/Geniatech A680B TV stick I happen to own.
So is it possible to use this? If so, any tips on how to do it? It comes with its own TvIR program and I can install/run it and see it change color when I press keys on the included remote. So it seems the remote is doing something.
Mygica claims this is all Media Center compatible and there is a setting on the TvIR program to choose Media Center versus the included Mygica media center software.
I cannot seem to get very far with all of this. I am on Windows 10 (uugghh) but WinLirc seems to start up. I have run this as admin. I have tried to use both Geniatech and MCEVista (32-bit since I am on 32 bit Windows). But I cannot seem to get past the config file name.
I tried to run both the IRRecord and IRGraph in an admin level shell and also get nowhere. IRRecord -d xxx config.cfg only returns:
irrecord - application for recording IR-codes for usage with lirc
Copyright (C) 1998,1999 Christoph Bartelmus(lirc@bartelmus.de)
IRRecord.exe: could not init hardware (lircd running ? --> close it, check permissions)
This is with/without WinLirc running (of course it is still prompting for config information when it is running).
If the plugin selected in WinLirc is Geniatech, IRGraph says the plugin is not compatible. If the plugin selected is MCEVista, initializing the plugin fails.
So I am fairly stumped at this point. Any help/tips/direction is appreciated. Thanks
Hi David,
basically you need an IR receiver which is on the supported list. Most of those cheap remotes act basically as USB keyboards, and theres not much else you can do with them.
