Where does WinLIRC store information like which Plugin to use and how to configure it?

I ask because I'm working on the new npackd WinLIRC package, and it seems to have trouble reloading this information from a previous execution, but only when installed through Npackd. So I'm trying to track down where the information is that it's not getting access to.

It stores a winlirc.ini file in the plugins folder

Ah, there it is. It seems that you can't write to this file unless you "Run as Administrator". The only reason it worked using the manual install method is because the user owns the WinLIRC directory in that case. Wouldn't this be more appropriate to put in a place like %appdata%/WinLIRC?

Unless you are writing to the program files directory, it shouldn't be an issue. But winlirc deliberately has no uninstaller to keep things clean and simple.

Ok, go ahead and close this, but you should probably add a note somewhere that the initial setup may require Adminstrator privleges because there is otherwise no feedback as to why it doesn't work.

btw, is my understanding correct that unredistributable packages are
admissible as long as it just points to the upstream link?
