If, as I did, you have tried to delete the highlight by repeating the highlight key with changed properties, you will have to repeatedly hit delete after you right click on the NON-HIGHLIGHTED TEXT. If you have tried three times using highlight you will have to hit delete three times etc. (Very non-intuitive.)
